It is a time to celebrate. The end of school year is getting close.

Hang on, t-p - I've still got to teach the whole of June and July!

I thought that it all ends at the end of June.
Why are you teaching in July? This is strange. However, it is much easier to teach when there are no exams. One can relax with students and enjoy without anxieties.

Why are you teaching in July?

Cos my summer term ends at the end of July! Then we're back at the beginning of September.

Teaching all through July?  My 6-year old finishes on Friday 6th July for the summer.

I want to know where is this record-breaking hot summer we've all been promised.  Hopefully it will be in the summer holidays and we can just go and live on the beach.  No point spending money going abroad if the weather here is gorgeous.

Have a great one yourself, Jan! Didn`t there used to be a box of chocolates called  `Weekend`?  Rather a  l-o-n-g  time ago? Anyone remember?
Me! Me! Me miss!

My grandparents used to get one occasionally and I have a vague recollection of some kind of nut and chocolate confection in a red paper cup, as well as crystallized fruit slices.

I never read anything by George Sand. Recently I stumbled in a book on a quote from her writing.
I decided to put it here because it is about happiness.

One is happy as a result of on's own efforts, once one knows the necessary ingredients of happiness- simple tastes, a certain degree of courage, self-denial to a point, love of work, and above all, a clear conscience. Happiness is no vague dream, of that I now feel certain.

I think happiness is much simpler that what George Sand said. I think happiness is this:

That`s the one, Kitty!! Smiley I was beginning to wonder if my memory was playing tricks. Of course that has now reminded me of Contrast chocolates - one of them was a sort of pineapple flavoured sugared jelly on a dark chocolate base. Wonder what happened to them? And Opal Mints? I liked them. Bring `em back immediately!! Oh, and then there was the chocolate bar with ........

Spangles... ah yes, do you remember sucking them with the paper on until they became quite aerated and crumbly.... or was it just me ?  Roll Eyes

Then there were pear drops bought in a two ounce triangular packet  loose... remember those? I once made the mistake of eating one of them in a maths lesson and the smell pervaded the whole lesson. The teacher took my bag of them and smashed them to smitherenes giving a small piece to each member of  the class ...'If you are eating one  it is only polite that we all should' . Probably right!!

Ah , happy memories  Grin Roll Eyes Shocked

What about berry fruits? (Is that what they were called?)  Large jelly like fruits with crystallised sugar?

I remember quite a variety of Spangles flavours including a lemonade one...

Now then, does anyone remember cinnamon flavoured TicTacs? They were a mauve sort of colour, were only available for a very short time, about 1975 - 6? I used to love those... also, the smell of the inside of the mint TicTacs box was always nicer than the TicTacs themselves... (hint of vanilla, I think)...
