Have a great one yourself, Jan! Didn`t there used to be a box of chocolates called  `Weekend`?  Rather a  l-o-n-g  time ago? Anyone remember?
Me! Me! Me miss!

My grandparents used to get one occasionally and I have a vague recollection of some kind of nut and chocolate confection in a red paper cup, as well as crystallized fruit slices.

What about berry fruits? (Is that what they were called?)  Large jelly like fruits with crystallised sugar?

I remember quite a variety of Spangles flavours including a lemonade one...

Now then, does anyone remember cinnamon flavoured TicTacs? They were a mauve sort of colour, were only available for a very short time, about 1975 - 6? I used to love those... also, the smell of the inside of the mint TicTacs box was always nicer than the TicTacs themselves... (hint of vanilla, I think)...

Ros,

Blimey I`s almost forgotten about Newberry Fruits (I think they were called)! Fat jelly blobs covered with sugar? Good grief!  Ah, cinnamon TicTacs, Yup, remember them. I love that flavour. Nowadays I make do with aniseed `imperials` (Don`t s`pose they can can `em `balls` now. Too rude. Come in a tube. Then again, there`s always aniseed twists.). Ohhh, and what about those Spangle-like sweets that, I think, were called Olde English? Dark coloured and strong tasting?

Whoops, sorry Ron. Just seen your post!

I`ll have a quarter of Kola cubes, Jonathan Smiley  And maybe a handful of pineapple cubes as well? Oh, and maybe some of those pink and white `pips` while you`re at it. Now what were they called?

Here we are then...

Loved 'em. 'course, in my day you could get one of them, a bag of 'pips', as Mort charmingly refers to them, a curley wurley, those violet purple things, kola cubes, some flying saucers and three comics, all for sixpence. And then be sick, just in time for Football Focus prior to the Saturday afternoon sporting line-up on TV.  Tongue

One year in an attempt to put off trick or treaters at Halloween, my sister and I emptied the flying saucers of sherbert and filled them with several pinches of salt instead (insert evil smiley here).  No one came round that year so we didn't get to use them - probably just as well though!

Wonders will never cease as to what turns up in my garden!

We nearly fell through the floor when this landed on us yesterday.  The photo is very dark because it was dusk and taken on a phone - but this was the biggest peacock I've ever seen in my life.  From the crest on its head to the tip of its tail was a good 7 feet in length.  It stayed a while and ate some bird nuts - but where on earth did it come from?  We live on the beach for heaven's sake!!

The fence it is sitting on is about 6 feet high.
