A few weeks ago George posted somewhere on this board about those brief, special moments that can bring light into our lives. I had one of those earlier today, so .... I have been a regular Little Miss Gloomy Clogs all week, wallowing in apathy and a chest infection. Anyway, I stumped to the local shop earlier and there was a wee lad who was obviously learning how to sign (the local junior school also incorporates a school for deaf chiildren, although this boy was not deaf). His mother didn`t understand what he was trying to `say` and, for some reason, he turned around to me and signed. A few years ago I learnt some basic signing so I was able to sign back to him. The look of amazement on his face was ... umm .... amazing. So we had a brief silent conversation and then he was on his way. That little moment has lifted me up no end and on the basis of that I have decided to treat myself to a pre-birthday Chinese. I`ll use the `phone for that conversation though!

This is a madhouse. Little 'un has just presented me with his spaceman "voice changer" helmet which I bought him the other day and instructed me to sing "Poppadum" like they do at football. Flummoxed? Yes I was for a minute or two Then Eureka! So I've been happily intoning "Vindaloooooo, vindalooooooo" a la Darth Vader for the last couple of minutes. They're coming to take me away ha ha, hee hee, ha ha to the funny farm...

This really is very pleasant - just written a shell article about the Azores and am listening to a new CD I bought this morning (very cheaply) of Alfredo Perl playing Liszt's Transcendentals. He really is very, very good! Also chopped up some more of the tree that fell in the garden while we were away.
