john

buy and drink the champagne !

tis good for you Smiley

In April 2007, the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry published the results of a recent joint study by the University of Reading and University of Cagliari that showed moderate consumptions of Champagne may help the brain cope with the trauma of stroke, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's disease. The research noted that the high amount of the antioxidant polyphenols in sparkling wine can help prevent deterioration of brain cells due to oxidative stress. During the study scientist exposed two groups of mice with blanc de blancs (100% Chardonnay composition) and blanc de noir (Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier based) and a control group with no exposure to Champagne. All groups were then subjected to high levels of neurotoxicity similar to what the human brain experiences during inflammatory conditions. The study found that the groups pretreated with exposure to Champagne had the highest level of cell restoration compared to the group that wasn't. The study's co-authors noted that it was too early to conclusively say that drinking Champagne is beneficial to brain health but that the study does point researchers to more exploration in this area.[15]

Bravo John, my congratulations too!

And delighted to hear A's i-pod problems have been resolved (well done B), KittyB's beloved has got out of the house, Lord B's cousin is getting married and eruanto has been visited by a good day. A really good haul for the Happy Room today.

Now let's see if I can't match the occasion by working out how to paste one of these extra smileys.

Oooh yes! It worked!

Many thanks all, with any thoughts of more exam revision well and truly out of the way I should now tidy up the office (the dining room where I'm sitting now)

..... and find all the things I've lost. As well as being the dining room, and office it's also the main PC room and my main music/radio listening room. It's in a bit of disarray right now. My wife hasn't vacuumed this end of the room for some time "can't get in, things keep falling over, it was a pile of CDs last time" so this weekend is supposed to be tidy-up-time.

I've got football soon, then something to eat and I think we're up the pub later, so tidy up tomorrow, perhaps.  Roll Eyes

Yeah....

Need to tidy up first  Sad

Quite a few crumbs on the floor, but it's the piles of papers and bills and things not filed away, house stuff, business stuff and music stuff all mixed up, and the bookcase is a mess, load of college folders and business stuff all mixed up, and I'm short of space for CDs, and there's a pile of vinyl that I aquired in Leamington (on the way back from the exam) but I can't actually get at the turntable because of stuff piled.....

My wife has just walked through in a bath robe declaring she's got a cold so not going up the pub, she got wet at the football match (we went to different matches today)

So maybe I'll be stopping in tonight after all, and start the tidy up. Oh, now have to drive daughter and boyfriend to Leamington because they want to drink.

Oh siz, this is the happy thread  Grin

This is indeed the happy thread and Milly is happy also.  Very busy day, taking child to football practice this morning, doing lunch, looking after sick daughter-in-law and baby all afternoon, taking their Boxer for a long evening walk, coming home, doing tea, taking my Boxer for a walk, bathing child, putting him to bed, setting about laundry and tidying up....all this and posting in between too!  Multitasking of course - like what it is dat us Julies do innit?  (Must apologise for keep lapsing into Ali G, but it's been that sort of few days). Tongue

Going great guns at the gym by the way, personal trainer introducing me to it by degrees.  All the same when I did "spinning" I thought I was going to die  Grin.  Going to tone up nicely for our holiday at half-term in October which is all booked and paid for.  Two whole weeks....ah....bliss!  Kiss

Wow you are a busy bee dear Milly!
taking their Boxer for a long evening walk, ....... taking my Boxer for a walk,
This puzzles me. Couldn't the Boxers share a walk? Or doesn't yours walk as far? You must be so fit with all this dog-walking - and all that spinning at the gym!

Ah well you see, not in this instance because ..one Boxer is at my son's house about a mile away and so while I was there looking after the invalid and the baby I thought it would be nice to take their dog out for them so they could relax together when my son arrived home from overtime at work.  I'd put a lovely roast dinner in the oven for them and it was ready by the time he came home, so while they ate it, I walked their dog.

Then I returned to my house to do tea for my other son and the child when he came back from the cinema with his classmate and mum, and as t'other son and new girlfriend were going out this evening, I dashed out with my own Boxer while they ate their tea, because I couldn't do it later as I wouldn't have a babysitter - and then when I got back it was time to bath the child and put him to bed...

And yes, I do rather pride myself on being quite fit physically.  I'm vain enough to want to look slim and toned - although it's really hard work when you're no spring chicken and you've had a couple of kids and you're a single-parent grandma..... Roll Eyes

I've just realised....I haven't actually eaten anything since this morning!!!  Shocked

Time for a snack methinks.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Torture!!!  Cry

I am, as we speak, munching on two halves of an avocado, some brazil nuts, a goat's cheese and cherry tomato salad and drinking some red sparkling grape juice.  For afters I'm having banana and ice cream.  YUMMY!

Busy day tomorrow.  Houseful of children from 11.30 till teatime, friend coming for lunch.  Somehow I've got to do a week's ironing as well.

I do like to keep busy though  Grin
