I'm being a bit cautious in case I jinx it...
I haven't seen it in writing yet.
It's probably safe to say that it's a 0.5 post at a music department in a new university in Scotland and while I won't have a ton of spare cash floating around, I'll have more than I do now and I'll be doing the job I've wanted to do for the last ten years! I'm very happy and the only flies (very small ones) in the ointment are the distance from my family, the temperature and the fact that when I heard, I wanted to phone a certain someone who's no longer in my life (at least, not like that)  Cry. They're all small inconveniences or annoyances and stacked up against the good things hardly bear mentioning and make no difference to my  Grin.

Oh yes, and next door's builders seem to have finished (they were here slamming doors until about 10 last night, presumably in an attempt to finish on time). Which is nice.

...the temperature...

Hang on - aren't you near a town where the dress code is "only a T-shirt", even when Brass Monkeys have suffered a thermally induced castration?

Or are you saying it's too hot north of the border?  Wink

Is it just me, or does the sight of the moon against a blue sky make anyone else happy?

I tidied my room yesterday.

There are still lots of piles of CDs I really should get shelves for (but at least I can roughly see all the spines now by strategic positioning of the piles on the floor), and there are lots of piles of paper I need to go through to find out whether I still need them and to invent some kind of filing system for the ones I do, but this is quite an achievement, in that I moved things I haven't touched for - in some cases - over a year.

I know how fulfilling that can be, tinners. Well done (says he who still has not yet unpacked boxes of 'stuff' from a house move 12 years ago...)!

Sounds like the space I used to inhabit in my teens. To call it a room would be to dignify it, it was really more of a nesting box.

Since there's no THE EXCITED BUT EXTREMELY NERVOUS ROOM, I'll post this here ....

I have a moving date!  My UK adventure officially begins on 16 October, barring any complications at the consulate on Wednesday morning (still have one last hurdle to jump there, but it should all be fine.)  The plane tickets have been purchased, the moving company should be able to schedule a pick-up date sometime in the next few days, .... it's all actually happening.

I'll definitely post here in THE HAPPY ROOM once my belongings arrive in late November.  Yikes.
