No, it's a new production by Martin Duncan, who I know nothing about. I agree with your mother about the music, but I also love the words, and I do prefer the production to bear some resemblance to both  Smiley .

Off topic for an R3 board but Radio 2 has just made me happy with the 2007 concert version of Liege and Lief.

I'm happy because I got this out of the library today.

However I'm unhappy because I'm old enough to remember hearing the tracks on it when they were originally broadcast on the radio  Sad

Mahler Symphonies 1 and 2

Have to admit, those bose soundwave things are tempting, as is sacd, but, being near london, so is live music Smiley

Had a nice walk today

The last time we had this question the general consensus was along the lines of 'overpriced and underperforming life-style gizmo'.

Unless you're really strapped for space and/or rolling in cash you could do a good deal better with a modestly priced separates system. What on earth would you need a five CD changer for anyway? Surely they're intended more for those who use music as wallpaper?

For listening to the whole of Tristan und Isolde in one sitting, perhaps?  Smiley

I would echo Ron's advice here. I have not actually heard the Bose stuff, but I'm reliably told by many people who I think have a good idea about Hi-Fi - that this equipment is inferior (and overpriced). You can probably buy separate items for the same or less which will give you a much superior sound.

And an autochanger will probably be unreliable, as well as reducing the sound quality if it piles each CD on top of the last. Keep the mechanics simple is aways a good maxim.

Thanks for doing that so speedily, John. I'm not all that often one for smilies, but I think in this instance you deserve an immediate Wink Grin

Hello again, it's a beautiful day here in border country (between London and Essex that is) and I've been out cycling this morning, the main result of which was to convince me that I need to do it more often before it's too late.

I hope those who found my exit from the boards rather melodramatic last week will excuse me for that: I was dealing with a lot of stress and hassle of my own, which I won't bore you all with, and the thought of getting involved in that kind of strife as well had me almost coming out in hives. I can't say I much like what's happened but no doubt I'm not alone in that, and obviously it's better to approach the situation constructively than destructively.

I may have been ignoring the boards but I haven't been ignoring the Pettersson symphonies, so more on those later (I know everyone's waiting with bated breath).
