I remember a Scottish colleague who used to refer to 'brambles' instead of blackberries. Now up on Tayside, have you ever had tayberries? (a cross between blackberries and raspberries according to the site I found these on): Doesn't that Proms visit seem light years away?!

A free web based social group just sent me info about free concert tickets, coool would tell you about it, but, well, may look like advertising

Following Andy D's comments about Avast Antivirus, from the Grumpy Old Rant room,
being skint most of the time means I have had to rely heavily on Freeware and while there are some right royal turkeys out there, there are also some very good programs distributed free of charge. I am a big fan of Avast!, Spybot Search and Destroy, and OpenOffice among others.

I agree Kitty. I've just had a quick look at what's on my PC and as well as avast!, Spybot and OpenOffice (I wouldn't touch Word with a barge pole), I've found the following which I use regularly and all of which are available free, sometimes as a limited facility version of something you have to pay for:
ZoneAlarm - firewall AVG Anti-Spyware Ad-Aware SE Notepad2 - far better than MS Notepad Sunbird - Mozilla calendar Thunderbird - Mozilla email Audacity - edit etc audio files XVI32 - hex file edit (of limited interest to most I should think) Firefox/Flock - browsers (I tried Opera but uninstalled it because it kept doing something annoying at startup) Rokario Bandwidth monitor - for monitoring your broadband connection Picasa - basic photo editor/organiser RealPlayer Belarc Advisor - tells you what's on your PC

There's GOT to be a musical joke in there somewhere. Did it have a particularly irritating overture?

Where for the first time I have seen a photo of a deep fried creme egg, discussed my pigeon infestation and enjoyed Ian Pace's photos of Busby Berkley's Gold Diggers of 1933 (it may have been Dames. Ian uncharacteristically failed to give proper academic citation.)
