Lovely colours there, MJ, and a very peaceful sky, which is more than can be said for here tonight....

(.... and yes, Kittyb and Andy, no post-production.)

Martle: Re this half-Welshness. Would that be a vertical or horizontal split?

Niether, Ron. More of a spiritual and attitudinal one that seems to assert itself more strongly each time I go, after years of lying dormant, look you.  Smiley

Absolutely fantastic photo, Ron. Some of my best sunsets were viewed from the Isle of Eigg. Do you ever get over that side of Alba?

Martle, your Welshness lying dormant do does remind me of Cherry Owen, he be lying dormant on a tombstone saying 'Oh fach Bach'

But, it also reminds me off Mrs. Cherry Owen,

Remember last night?  In you reeled, my boy, as drunk as a deacon with a big wet bucket and a fish-frail full of stout and you looked at me and you said "God has come home" you said, and then over the bucket you went, sprawling and brawling, and the floor was all flagons and eels.

Cherry Owen:  Was I wounded?

Mrs. Cherry Owen: And then you took off your trousers and you said "Does anyone want a fight?"

Cheery Owen "Give us a kiss"

Mrs. Cherry Owen:  And then you sung Aberystwyth.  Tenor and Bass.

I think this is hilarious but won't post it all, but it ends up with

"And then I got you into bed and you breathed all night like a brewery"

Mr. amd Mrs. Cherry Owen laugh delightedly together.

Anna, I think you've just uncovered a hidden Welsh bit in me!!! I couldn't resist reading that passage aloud in a thick Welsh accent (good job no one else is in Wink) and I think I did it rather well, even if I do say so myself!

Not aware of any Welsh heritage, actually, on my Now side or my Straw side, although me and my sister used to laugh at my mum because whenever she tried to do any kind of foreign accent it always came out sounding like a cross between Welsh and Pakistani!

West Coast sunsets are wonderful - I have folks in Ardnamurchan and try and spend as much time there as I can.  Here are a couple of examples - not a patch on Ron's, and the first is a scan of a very old 35mm print, but they give the idea (the first is Castle Tioram on Loch Moidart the second one shows Eigg and Rhum):

There is, but even when my mum does a French accent it comes out sounding Welsh!

Martin,

I don't get over to the West Coast as often as I should, though next year I'll probably do a week or two in May - which tends to be the best month. Couldn't do it this year as I was doing the trek in S.A.

It was cloudier than expected here today, and the light was disappointing: the wind's been getting up too, so I'm hoping we'll get some more good days before all the leaves are gone.

I don't think I've any Welsh blood - otherwise I'd be having Da rather than Dough for a surname.

Talking of Aber......

Dda, surely, though?

And spelling your Christian name with an 'h' (sort of like a Welsh Thom Yorke, then?).
