I haven't mopped or moped, I'm afraid, t-p. I had a shower, did a couple of other things in the house then finally got out to Sainsbury's an hour or so ago. Going to cook some English breakfast as a sort of late lunch/early dinner, as I've not had any cooked food yet today and I'm really in the mood for a weekend breakfast, even if it's not actually breakfast time.
Then I'd really better get on with some work as I'm going on a date at 9.30. Will mop(e) tomorrow, I think.

The city is a process which always veers away from the form envisaged and desired, ... whose revenge upon its architects and planners undoes every dream of mastery. It is [also] one of the sites where Dasein is assigned the impossible task of putting right what can never be put right. - Rob Lapsley

Welcome back, Mary! I know exactly what you mean. No `phone access is infuriating but bearable, if you have a mobile `phone. But when the internet disappears it does leave you feeling rather cut off.
The one thing BT did right was diverting my incoming calls to my mobile. That worked. I suppose they did mend my landline, too, but then they broke it in the first place. Thank goodness you've turned up!!! I was beginning to worry, particularly since you haven't been feeling too good for a while. If you ever feel down by the way I can recommend IGI's musical quizzes. I've been totally absorbed lately. Today for the first time I started to think laterally and very nearly got there with the right answer. I only managed half of it but it's a start.

Janthefan, It is a good news. Now this is behind you. Gradually you will move on and on and the whole thing will disappear.

Jan, Do you empathise with Kent (King Lear, Act 1, Sc 1): "Freedom lives hence, and banishment is here" I've just bought tickets for Peter Hall's touring production of "Uncle Vanya" and the inside sleeve of an attractive brochure is headed: 'If you are afraid of loneliness, don't marry' Anton Chekhov

Thanks, Milly! I still don't feel wonderful, but I'm a lot better now I've got phone and internet back! I've never used my mobile much, at least not for the hour-long conversations I often have, so it just wasn't the same. I'm moving to the Grumpy Room now .

Congratulations Jan. May the wind be at your backs from now on, and the liniment be ever at hand for your knees.

Ho, Janthefan. Congratulations. It doesn't take long for weights on shoulders to lighten and a relaxed feeling of wellbeing to take its place there. I think that matters will now go really well for you. Cheers S'wave

Jan.
Big Hugs, the moment I threw my ex out into the street was the best moment of my life, yes he threatened to do this and that but it was all stuff and nonsense. I still see him, when we bump into each other, water under the bridge now, but Omigod, what a control freak he was.
I wish you, and your new man, all the best. xx
