Pleased to read your good news Jan. Wishing you much happiness together in your gorgeous Cornish cottage.

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Milord, may the muse smile upon ye, but how pray will you pace the floor-a traditional scribbler's vice I presume you share- in a motorhome?

As as Scribbler Par Excellence I don't pace the floor, I stride out in my hefty hiking boots, cheeks glowing and hair flapping like some Nubian Goat's ears across the water meadows dodging herds of Continental Crosses and occasionally blowing up the noses of some Belgian Blues before I reach the bridge and play Pooh Sticks

Guy Lombardo mayhap.

The goats have discovered those Guy Lombardo LPs, their ears are a-flap as you can see

I think I could be described as (among other things) relatively happy today. I travelled to Amsterdam on Tuesday evening, had a nice breakfast in my nice hotel on Wednesday morning then went back to my room and lazed around doing pretty much nothing for a few hours, went next door to the concert hall for my soundcheck, was given a nice (and free) meal at the venue, played the concert, hung around with friends for a couple of hours afterwards, got up yesterday and went for a long walk round some of my old haunts (ie. CD shops), bought a few things, had lunch in a tiny Thai café whose location I had miraculously remembered, went to the airport and returned to London. Today I was off in darkest Basildon collecting a bicycle I bought on eBay for the little one, after which fish and chips were consumed on the seafront at Southend.
OK, I had quite bad backache when I was in Holland, I woke up at 7 this morning with a headful of worries about admin work at the university (and then got up and did it, which was a first), and I pinched my thumb rather colourfully (in contusional and linguistic terms) while adjusting the saddle of said bike, and I had a door-to-door energy salesman almost ruining my cooking this evening, and I'm getting somewhat behind with the score I'm working on, but actually that counts as a reasonably good few days.
Phew! Things can only get worse.

Having a great time at the moment. Our friend who we live with, has bought us a 'hand of pork', where he does some part time butchering. (With the meat that is I hasten to add!). I can smell it!! Its smells divine. Cant wait. Any of you hungry??
