We had our school Summer Fayre today and yours truly had the job of judging the cake competition...tough work, but someone's got to do it!  Grin

Forgive me, opi, I can't remember - did you get yours yet?

Er, the beer or the doctor-thingy? I delivered this four-volume pile of gobbledegook to the uni a couple of weeks ago:

I couldn't afford another bound copy for myself, hence the photo. One volume for the commentary, and one for each of the three acts of the full score.

The binder said to me: "I don't think we've done a four-volume thesis before."  Me: "Neither have I"

Graduation is on 10 July - too far for Mr & Mrs Opi senior to travel these days, but am having to go through with the ridiculous dressing-up business as they want some pics. Undecided

PS Yes, the date on the spines is correct - apparently!

Opi - fantastic! So how much will it cost me to get a copy?  Cheesy

Shocked I found them funny but at the same time rather disturbing! I must be over-sensitive. Roll Eyes

Had a great time with our messageboard friends Friday night and all day today. I mentioned the walk in Styal Woods over on the Weather thread - my legs are aching a bit now - lots and lots of steps as the valley sides rise and plunge. The three hour walk (which should have been just one hour so we could visit the actual mill) was very invigorating, full of entertaining conversation and also a moment of drama when one of the kids dropped the much-loved football over the sheer drop down  Shocked to the River Bollin way below where it wedged itself amongst branches lying in the shallows. We managed to stop the 4 kids plunging down after it and once the path had descended, they scrambled along the steep, leafy, muddy bank and eventually managed to retrieve the ball, returning covered in mud.

I struggled to keep up with the octogenarian in the party! I hope I'm that fit at 82 but I doubt it somehow!

MJ, I know Styal woods well, wonderful place. I used to go there all the time with my parents and then often with my daughters especially when small. I think it appeals so much to the young adventurer doesn't it?

You'll know what I mean by "sheer drop" then won't you?! I'm glad my kids are old enough now that I'm not constantly terrified they'll disappear over the edge. Walks like that with a toddler or two or three in tow were a nightmare! At least most of the sheer drops have branches and bushes on the slope to break the fall a bit but in places the distance down increases dramatically in just few seconds of climbing up the steep path. My kids had never met the Californian kids (of similar age) but they clicked immediately and had a whale of a time getting wet and muddy together. And we're invited over to stay there whenever we want to visit!

I remember the sheer drop, yes MJ !! as children we thought it was marvelous and swung from branches of trees and slid rather fast down the banks.. I seem to remember wet feet too!!

Ah happy days, we all survived too  Grin Grin

Does Tinners read this thread? I want to wish him well for his sister's wedding tomorrow, but he's probably gone to wherever it is by now.
He does pop in now and then, Mary. But knowing him, he'll get up late and then have to run around like a dervish trying to pack in time, so he may miss your message.  Grin
Thanks Mary (and, ahem, martle!). Smiley

Will you indulge me if I have a short "proud big brother" moment?
