Can you post in in Grumpy room? I don't know Larkin poems and it is good to read some.

I've just remembered - bob-a-job week in the cubs - calling at an elderley neighbour's house to cut the grass - and being given a pair of nail-scissors...

I have a grass trauma. It`s disappeared! Normally at this time of year it`s getting ready to turn into a fully fledged meadow overnight, but now it`s full of bald patches. Well, mud patches actually. It looks terrible I can`t see how it`s going to recover. Is it too late for grass seed surgery? Short answer Mort.... no !!! A

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

The city is a process which always veers away from the form envisaged and desired, ... whose revenge upon its architects and planners undoes every dream of mastery. It is [also] one of the sites where Dasein is assigned the impossible task of putting right what can never be put right. - Rob Lapsley

Of course, for those of us who can afford assistance - we don't have to do the work ourselves!
