I am happy today for two work related reasons.  That is astonishing in itself.

1.  Our Chief Executive spent some time at an open forum today just answering staff questions - it struck me today that it was just good to get his perspective and good that he spent the time doing it.

2.  He (or his assistant) had taken the bother to bring along a signer for the one deaf member of the audience.  That made me happy.  I also watched in wonderment as the signer waved her hands to shape concepts such as 'Bulk Annuity', 'IFA', 'With-Profits Investment', and 'Income Drawdown'.

Brilliant!   Cheesy  I wonder if he was deliberately chucking in loads of complex stuff just to see how she coped?

I've just had a lovely drive home in the sunshine to retrieve my lunch from right next to the back door (HOW did I miss it?) to the accompaniment of a version of the nutcracker for 2 pianos on R3.  Took me right back to being little and I was tempted to just stay at home and pop Fantasia on the video. <sigh>  Smiley

This, apparently, is 'compensated demand curve' -

Ha ha, yes I saw that!  It'd have to be a very different universe as well, you haven't heard me play the violin lately.   Cheesy    Mind you, neither have I..

I'm allowed nostalgia, I haven't heard it for ages.  Smiley

[Two edits for typos - my brain really isn't in gear today.  Earlier I emailed someone saying "I would be I can cos there was no attachment..."   Huh]

Happy: the new management of Heroes have put all the old specials back on the menu! NOM!
Sad: someone needs to tell them that the Swiss cheese in a 'hot chicken and Swiss' should be melted.  Undecided

Onward and upward!

Actually we used to have a great time in the pit during the Nutcracker run, exchanging gifts, passing around boozy cakes and chocolates...

After much trying, I've just found a way to play flacs on my Mac.

So, spinning now: this live performance of Les éspaces acoustiquesSmiley

Update: this is a really excellent recording (thanks to member Tantris for sharing): get it now if you haven't already.

I've just had a long chat with an old friend by 'phone which was most interesting (he's a music fan as well and knows a lot about Liszt).
Also, my Liszt Society journal and a newletter (with a review by me) arrived today and I've played through most of the music and read some of the journal.
Good stuff all round!

Liszt. Now there is a composer I really love. Recently had Kurt Masurs cycle playing, eg Hunnenschlatt, Les Preludes et al. Apart from Orpheus, which I find sooooo boring!!

Morning BBM,
Have you heard the piano transcription of Orpheus?  It really is rather good.  I have been working on it for some time and find it a very good work.  More Liszt this morning while I investigate a few (hundred) unidentified shells!!   Grin
Plus it's Friday and once my girlfriend gets home, we can spend a nice weekend together - it's several of our friends birthdays over the weekend so we're all going out for a meal and a few drinks!
