It's nothing special, just an ever so 'umble dish involving mince, that good old stand-by, but it has happy memories for me which is why I sent it in

That had a few mince dishes in last time but my parents stole it at the weekend by accident. I asked them to keep it for me because of those recipes!!

I have a food related happiness too. I decided to treat myself to a blender last night, which I had thought was a bit frivolous since I have a hand-blender but oh no - an excellent purchase. I made some soup last night, which I've just had for lunch and it was lovely - just the right texture - sillky smooth veg soup. (Prior to this it's always come out like baby food.) And the ingenious little thing has a tap in the front (this might be old hat for all I know) so there's no mess getting it out of the jug. Love it. Love it love it love it. Painsbusy on the way home for bananas and other blendable things. My house will be one big pile of mush by Friday, I'll have blended it all together.

I am feeling pleasantly chuffed because I received an e-mail from The Grauniad Weekend confirming publication of a recipe that I sent to them. After a certain amount of dancing about I checked the e-mail again and thought 'Hang on ...'. Frantic race to the recycling bin to retrieve relevant section of the paper that, for some odd reason, I hadn't read. YES! There it was! Phew. It would have been helpful if they had e-mailed me before they published it but, hey, it's The Grauniad. What should I expect? If my mother were around she'd be tickled pink to see her recipe in a national newspaper. Even if she didn't approve of the readership Well done!

Well, at last my brain is settled enough to work on my novel! I hadn't realised how badly written some of it was so am rewriting large parts of it. Who knows, by 2010, I may even finish the damn thing!

The gas went off this afternoon and now I've got it back on, there is a red light showing on the boiler. This happened once before and we were without gas for a few days before an engineer who'd happened to call by for something else sorted it out (I think there was another problem with the boiler at the same time), and I was pretty sure he'd said that if it happened again, all we needed to do was press the black button next to the red light. But I've tried, and it doesn't want to be pressed. The red light seems to be described in the manual as a 'lock-out light'. There's no clear explanation of the button next to it, but closer investigation with a screwdriver has indicated that the black button doesn't push in at all, but is a screw-cap. Unscrewing it reveals a small red button underneath, but I can't seem to push that one in either. Any ideas??? The boiler is a Biasi, model number 24 S. Now fixed. It was embarrassingly obvious, but it took a phone call to the manufacturer to ascertain that the red light itself doubles up as a push-button.

Glad to hear that. I noticed with concern, but not surprise, that whereas this board could always come up with advice on recordings, computers and cooking, domestic appliances produce no response.
So this red button comes on to say "Push me, push me" and when you have done that it is happy?
