When in doubt, wash.

Congratulations BBM! Good luck on the 24th.

I'm feeling very happy as we started to tackle the garden today. We're preparing the area where we're going to have a greenhouse. Last week a pair of entertaining freecycle Irishmen dismantled and removed the old summerhouse which has freed up a sunny part and made the garden seem much bigger. I'm really looking forward to growing our own tomatoes and peppers.

I'm also very happy as I'm having a curry cooked for me and it smells absolutely delicious! Drool, drool... Smiley

I'm happy because I had a wonderfully successful evening !

(Luckily my man is getting better now from his cheesey cold, I had feared we would have to call it off).

I've 2 very dear friends who came over for a meal with us, it was - I have to say it myself- a veritable feast of delight.

Almost all the veg from our garden...

...Leek & potato soup with yummy olive bread rolls, followed by roast loin of pork with ratatoullie, dauphinoise potatoes & mashed swede, next, two local cheeses St Keverne Brie & St Anthony's goats cheese with crackers & grapes. THEN pears in red & white wine with creme fraiche.  Tongue

WOW! it was amazing! they loved it !

This morning I'm basking in the afterglow !

It is so nice to have peace & harmony in this house after all the past troubles, and to be able to be sociable again - and I'm learning how to cook!

Today we're going out for lunch, then on to see "Easy Virtue" at the flicks....

Ok, this is a bit of a grump as well but we were away on holiday last week and we stopped off in Sedburgh on the way to the Lakes.  There's an excellent little music shop there and i bought volume 1 of Liszt's Symphonic Poems in transcriptions by various pupils (as it turns out, 3 of them were finally edited prior to publication by Liszt himself).  However, it is only volume 1 and volume 2 was not in the shop!  Having said that, it's been fun playing through them since we got back.   GrinSad

Well I was having a bit of a rubbish day - I'm a bit bored with current work things and the other half is in Utah for the week, so there won't be much text contact as he'll be getting up and going off to the course just as I'm getting home from work.

A little cheeriness today though - a friend is back from his honeymoon on safari in Kenya and I'm off for lunch in a moment to hear all their stories about it.  Plus he's just got 2 kittens that are 9 weeks old and I'm going to see them after work!  Smiley

Seen a couple of photos - they're adorable.

I envy you the visit to the kittens, Ruby2. They're at a lovely age. Seeing your friends will be nice, too, of course Smiley

On  the way to the supermarket this morning we went on a tour of the autumn colours. They are so spectacular this year, especially the beeches. Quite wonderful.

(On the other hand, I've just eaten a Tesco Finest butterscotch mousse. Ugh. I don't think I've ever eaten anything so over-sweet in my life. Sorry, wrong room.)

bbm, that is great you are to record a cd.  An achievement indeed. Keep us posted please!

I am now away to bed, it promises to be a quieter night weatherwise.

Congratulations on the CD bbm - sounds very exciting!  Smiley

Oh my GOD those kittens were just agonisingly cute.  They're at that age where they just hammer about the place and bounce around unexpectedly.  Because you can't hear them moving they just appear between your feet and on your shoulder - absolutely adorable.  I tried to get one in my bag but it wasn't having any of it...  Grin

Tabby - a boy and a girl. The boy is a slightly darker tabby and getting bigger very quickly.  He's going to send me a photo actually for me to do a painting for them, so I'll post it on 9 out of 10 cats when it arrives.  Also took a few on my phone but since they didn't really sit still none of them came out particularly well!  They had that 6th sense about when the shutter was going to go.  Cheesy

I am feeling pleasantly chuffed because I received an e-mail from The Grauniad Weekend confirming publication of a recipe that I sent to them. After a certain amount of dancing about I checked the e-mail again and thought 'Hang on ...'.

Frantic race to the recycling bin to retrieve relevant section of the paper that, for some odd reason, I hadn't read. YES! There it was! Phew. It would have been helpful if they had e-mailed me before they published it but, hey, it's The Grauniad. What should I expect? Wink If my mother were around she'd be tickled pink to see her recipe in a national newspaper. Even if she didn't approve of the readership Wink Cheesy
