Maybe I should have posted that link in the "collaborative composition" thread, since it answers most of the questions posed there, and also (perhaps I can speak for my colleagues here as well as for myself) reproduces with uncanny accuracy the kind of stream of consciousness that goes on within a composer's mind in full imaginative flood.

Morning tonyb, t-p and everyone!
I am happy today because in the next two hours I will have finished a piece of music that has taken me almost a year to write! I will be drinking a lot of non-ecoli liquid later on.

Fabulous news, martle - have one on me!

Well, that piece is finished. To all intents and purposes. Apart from the hours of computer editing... So I'm happyhappy  Grin

But here's a thing. Having just put in the double bar, so to speak, I opened the front door on my way out to the shop and sitting neatly on the doorstep was a bright orange carrier bag containing 200 Benson and Hedges special filter, cellophane-wrapped, and accompanied by a sales receipt from Cape Town airport. I have friends from Cape Town, but they live in London and haven't been there for months. No-one else I know has either, as far as I'm aware. Whassup?! I guess I should just smoke them and think of it as a reward for all my hard work. Shouldn't I?

t-p, perhaps your tree is a Common Elder.

It has berries like this:

You can make wine out of them.

Mary, I think you are right. My tree is a Common Elder. It is about to start blooming now. I value it very much. Do you like this tree? Is it very common. I saw a few of them here, but not too many.

FI have a book of piano variations by Beethoven, Peters edition. There I found Neun Variationen on the theme Quant's put bello l'amor contadino from opera La Molinara by Paisiello. It is dedicated to von Lichnowski.
Our trio always needs short pieces because some times we play easy classics and Irish tunes.
I was happy with my first effort.
I have a tast of orchestration. I even started to dream about writing something. May be the time will come and I will write something. It was so uplifting to write something and try to imagine the sound. It is very difficult to imagine what it will sound like because it did not sound anything like I imagined it. Also orchestration is like puting colours into piano score.
While I typed there was so many messages.

In a really good mood, had a lovely day off today, in the garden in the sunshine and also an excellent meal at our local pub, plus I found some shells in the canal that I thought must be there but so far hadn't been able to locate!

Google: Anodonta cygnea, Viviparius viviparius and Lymnaea stagnalis for pictures!

Sitting here listening to Tchaikovsky's Album for the Young as my wife is very fond of it.

I hope (previous experiences coming to the fore) you have examined the packaging for
  • protruding wires or cords
  • oily stains
  • suspicious smells or sounds?
