I'd like to raise a glass in gratitude to all those people who have magnolia trees in their urban gardens for the rest of us to enjoy at this time of year. They are wonderfully cheering but their full splendour doesn't last that long (the trees, that is, not the people) so it is really quite noble of their owners to use up valuable garden space on something that isn't all that exciting for the rest of the year just to please us passers by for a short time each spring. So thank you magnolia owners for your public service. It's appreciated Grin.

I do mean magnolias, don't I? Those pink things, sometimes white, with huge waxy oval flowers which all come out at once in March?  I was looking for a picture but googling 'magnolia' comes up with all sorts of other things Undecided. I know the ones I mean anyway. So thank you for those, whatever they are Grin

I found this yellow magnolia. I have never seen this magnolia. I love the ordinary magnolia.

Ah yes, thank you t-p. And here's a pinkish one but not quite the type I was thinking of. I'd no idea there were were so many very different types and sizes.

I usually see bush kind of magnolia. I love them very much. However, this evening the site is very slow. I am happy though because I am listening to Radio 3 Afternoon performance. There was Bach Wedding cantata, before that Teleman oboe concerto and now beautiful singing of Wagner songs by Christianne Stotijn. I don't know where she is from. I only know the last song (the sad one).

Good nigh everyone. I hope tomorrow will be a happy day too.

May be I have an ash tree. I think it looks like that.
It is difficult to post because the site is so slow. However, I am on my way to make my average  number of posts.

If it has red/orange berries in Autumn it is a mountain ash/rowan. They are supposed to keep witches away or something Smiley. I have a small one (tree, not witch.)

I tried to post this last night, but gave up in despair. It took forever. It's all right now.

we have a lovely ragged magnolia in our garden, and it loves this time of year.
i was looking at it yesterday evening in the late sunshine, thinking how beautiful it was, then my daughter bowled me out.

We could not continue our conversation last evening, Mary Chamber.
Today is a beautiful day. I think soundwave is probably enjoying it. He loves sunny days.
As for my tree, it is small and looks like the one on the picture, but I did not notice any berries on it. So it is not ash tree then. I don't know what it is then. Its leaves now seems different than on the picture.
Are you happy this morning Mary?

tonybob, We can not find a good picture of magnolia. They are good to look at, but difficult to capture on the photo.
Are you happy this morning?

Morning tonyb, t-p and everyone!
I am happy today because in the next two hours I will have finished a piece of music that has taken me almost a year to write! I will be drinking a lot of non-ecoli liquid later on.

Congratulation maratle. You have my admiration. It is not easy to write (especially if you are working). May be one day I will hear your piece.
Is it a big form, instrumental piece. May be piano is involved?
In any case well done, congratulation. It calls for bubbles

Thanks tb and t-p! I'll put the 'babbles' on ice for later.
tb, you're right, it feels very much like child-rearing. The tantrums! The early starts! The amount of money I've had to spend on Huggies!  Grin

Congratulations... but how do you know two hours will be enough? What about all those last-minute little changes? or looking through the completed manuscript and finding crucial mistakes? or deciding the whole thing had gone in the wrong direction and having to start all over again?

Don't let me distract you though.  Roll Eyes

I composer so slowly, it's not true - plus I am really self critical.  I've been working on my transcription of Le Chassuer Maudit since July of 1997.  Maybe I'll finsh it this year - it's on my list of things to complete!

I did go through a phase in which I composed a lot in a short space of time but (I hate to say this) I destroyed a lot fo that because I was unhappy with it.  Still, hopefully what is left is the pick of the crop!

Anyway, I'm off work today due to holiday - great!  Cheesy
