marbleflugel, I know how it is to be burned out. I am proned to burns out for some reason. May be it is because I am too emotional and trying too hard. Some times it is impossible to avoid being burned out anyway.
Your will surely go away after massage.
Millie, I don't know how seriously you damaged your eye. But mascara wands usually are benign things. I am know to try to put it too much inside, but never did anything as dangerous. I color my lashes in a beauty shop lately (10 euro are not big money now).

Looks a lot better actually thanks George.  I might leave it over the weekend to settle before I go charging off yelling for assistance.

What a wally!  Honestly!  It was the actual sharp end of the wand that I stabbed it with and it was really painful.  Alfie was sitting next to me and he suddenly jumped up and barked at a noise which startled me which is when I did it.  The first night out I've had for ages and one eye is bright red!

I don't know what the A and E departments are like in your area, but ours is always very slow-moving and full of drunks and junkies usually.  I just couldn't face going last night.

Well the weekend is only a day away, but eyes are delicate objects and you only have two of them..... (I'll leave you to make up your own jokes about that).

So probably best to pop into an optician's today if you can - just to be safe.

That's good to hear, Milly Smiley. But given that you did pierce it, Tommo's advice can only be right.

Thanks Tommo.  I've just rung and made an appointment for 10.20, but the receptionist has just told me that she's going to have a word with the optician in the meantime in case he thinks I should go up to A and E in any event.  If she doesn't ring me back, I just have to turn up for the appointment.

I feel a complete idiot!

You're right of course and I've decided to go.  I'm a bit worried in case of infection so maybe they'll send me to the docs for some antibiotics.  It's a silly situation.  If I go to the GP he doesn't have sophisticated ocular equipment so he'd send me to the optician, but the optician can't prescribe antibiotics.

So that's my day mapped out then!  Sad

Good luck, Milly. I think doctors have seen cases of stranger things stuck in stranger places. Grin

Thanks Mary, I'm going to drive up there shortly.  It will just put my mind at rest - hopefully there isn't too much damage.  Shocked

Ah. the joined-up dysfunction of the nhs. Tell you what Milly, the walk-in centres in the homes counties are on the
whole very good and don't attract the intoxicated where there are specialist services for them nearby. Well survived if I may say so and I hope the prognosis is ok.

...and to stave off any infection, you might find some tea tree ointment rubbed into the eye socket  perimeter
helpful? Powerful benign disinfectant-Hollan ad Barrett's et al should have it.

It's the same here, Milly. How they got through medical school I'll never know...

George!  Kiss

Any road oop, I am fine.  No cellular damage, no infection up to now.  He put some drops in my eye and said I am ok.  It'll be a bit sore for a few days I expect, but nothing serious.

I told him I felt really stupid, but he said people stab themselves in the eye with all sorts of things and it really isn't unusual - the last one he looked at had poked her eye with her hair straighteners and made quite a mess of herself.... Roll Eyes

So there are other idiots out there besides me thank goodness!  Grin

As far as I know, the record still stands with the young man who had extensive dental rehab. after trying to catch, in his teeth, a bottle dropped from a third-floor dorm. by a friend
