Thanks A.
Not sure if chemists round here open on Sundays/Bank Holidays.
Might have to mount an expedition into the city.
I'm into Smetana country now (tinnitus - and it's not even in tune with my fridge!)

"I've got an ear infection or something. Can't hear out of one of them."

I've had a blockage on one ear for two weeks! Plus cough and all the rest of it. Finished the antibiotics last week, and been hoping it'll unblock itself and its getting there. I wake up with this, it unblocks as the day goes on, then I sleep and it blocks again. Today its 95% ok, i think.

a lot of this is going on at the moment. back in february my right ear was of limited use for over five weeks. i think the thing that released it in the end was when i started doing this:

take finger and thumb and put them over the nostrils and squeeze so that they're airtight. then put one finger (of the other hand  Grin) in the unaffected ear (also must be airtight). shut your mouth, then blow as hard as you can!

certainly this is better than putting hydrogen peroxide down there (another "remedy" i came across).

Lovely weather for

No chance of watching any cricket today. Mind you I saw my local team get thrashed yesterday and it was so cold that I almost left early so I could come home to warm up. It's even colder today.

My missus has had ear problems this month too!

This is probably too funny for the grumpy thread but here goes. These are genuine conversations between me and the missus.

Me: (looking at a short list on a piece of paper) What's this for?

Missus: Oh, when I saw the doctor about my ear I also said I was forgetting things lately, like meetings at the school etc. He said I should write  down instances when I realise I've forgotten something.

A few days later:

Me: Eh, I see you haven't added much to your list this week!

Missus: Yeah, I keep forgetting!

Hmm, I notice one and a half hours between your message and the previous ..... Wink

Back to grumpiness:

I have an exam in two weeks. I'm over 50, this is hard for me now. With the missus, grown up kids, telly, washing machine noise and so many distractions in the house I have only one place where I can work in peace - the garage!

Not as bad as it sounds, though, the garage is integral to the house, concrete floor, I have a big desk and chairs and a table lamp in there, it's warm (gas boiler gives off heat), can't hear noise from house (except someone running upstairs) and not much sound outside.

So for a few hours every day now, I'm in there reading, trying to absorb information, a lot of it is memory stuff, legal stuff needing exact words (otherwise you don't get the marks in exam), I'm writing out bits, reading bits out loud, answering revision questions out loud. Yeah I know it sounds like I'm doing all the right things but I don't feel I'm taking it all in  Sad

I blew my entire month's CD money on two essential novelty items; a time tshirt

and a retro-looking phone

.

Hmm.  Adding this to the bread maker I splurged on last week; I get to feel Terribly Wasteful right about now.  Grrr.

But, I guess it could have been a lot worse; at least the luxury black toilet paper was sold out

.

Thankfully, I don't usually tend to indulge in such behaviour.

Morning Increpatio,
The t-shirt is very smart and, once you've started to use the bread maker, you won't regret it!  We use ours about every other day and the bread is so much nicer than supermarket stuff.
