Jonathan

Have you ever come across the Mangos Sisters' recordings of Liszt's symphonic poems for 2 pianos?

Indeed I have Anna, I wrote a review of the 3 discs for the Liszt Society about 8 years ago - they are brilliant!  They did another disc as well of the 4 hand Hungarian Rhapsodies as well and that's very good too.  Sadly, they haven't done any more since (at least of Liszt)

All this talk about bread-making reminds me of Nancy's song in Oliver

"As long as he kneads me"...

The Mango Sisters - Coming Soon to your Stereo!!

Thanks Jonathan, I came across them quite by chance, I think I shall get them.  If you think they're good then I don't need any further recommendation. (Can't remember how to quote :-)

hand-washable; though you have to detach the (hopefully small) battery-pack first.

I've got a breadmaker, but somehow the bread always seems a bit too heavy, at least after the first half hour. It smells lovely though, especially if you put it on the timer and come down in the morning to new bread. Have to admit it doesn't get used as often as it did, and just sits in the kitchen taking up space.

And they do take up a lot of space indeed.  Yeah, I've noticed that sometimes the bread's been quite heavy; I'm just hoping that adjusting the yeast quantities will fix that.  :/

I'm a little bit sad not grumpy today.
It's my 29th birthday and I have a grand total of 1 card and 1 present.
Four friends have sent me Facebook greetings and my girlfriend wished me a happy birthday at midnight last night.
Otherwise I've been sat inside all day working on my PhD commentary and feeling sorry for myself.
Having a birthday on a bank holiday when no-one's around to celebrate with you is rather disappointing.
Never mind. I'm having a party next month.

My quotes didn't work, this was an answer to t-p about Liszt, but it failed, dismally and spectacularly.

Why will you have to do without?  You can get it for $10 or the boxed set for $36.  I'm really surprised you haven't heard of four handed Liszt.  In fact there is loads of four handed stuff around including Mahler and Bruckner!

And now Word's just crashed in the middle of some reasonably complicated table crunching (which of course wasn't saved) and I'm listening to some REALLY depressing electroacoustic music.
Time to go and make some food.
Girlfriend is arriving tomorrow night. It will be great to see her but I hope she doesn't find humouring me through the last stages of the PhD too much of a trial.
