Look no further than here.

"The Old Grey Whistle Test" - was that the best pop music TV programme ever made? was it really over twenty years ago that it came to an end? doesn't anyone at BBC TV care about ANY kind of music any more?

Hmm, a band called Japan using in their cover art a Chinese bamboo steamer, a Chinese straw hat, Chinese chopsticks (Japanese ones are shorter and more tapering)... and a poster of Chairman Mao.  What's up with that?

The ties that bind

Exactly Andy.

I am a chronic asthmatic , and as such I have never smoked . The smell and smoke of cigarettes has always been bad for me and until asthma inhalers came in I couldn't sit near a smoker without being in extreme discomfort.

I have never asked someone not to smoke, I have fairly often moved my seat in a restaraunt before the smoking ban as I strongly feel that I have no right to tell others how to behave in this or in eating meat for that matter !

My feller and I have bad colds at the moment and his cough is extremely bad... he had to move today because the smoke irritated it a great deal. We didn't comment or even look 'fed up' we just moved.

I was just commenting, like you Andy, on the different emphasis now.

I suffer with asthma as well. I know only too well about cigarette smoke!! I could only stand it for about 1/2 hour before I had to rush out. Fresh air, lovely. We need to be by the sea really. Countryside air, no good for us at all, what with all the pollen, etc. Also, with me there are some foods I have to avoid like the plague, eg curries, or anything spicy, a lot of dairy foods I have to avoid to, depends how much I have, I think. If I have a few beers I have an asthma attack to. Oh well, thankfully I can only grumble about these.

Added to which three of the songs on the album make reference to China and none to Japan, although it does feature a Japanese guest vocalist. Clearly GIP still had a long way to go back in 1981.

Tough luck bbm, fortunately my asthma is very well under control now, stress is bad for it and bad colds aren't good but usually I'm fine .
Going through a very stressful time at the moment + a cold... ah well! - can't win everything.

Sea air... magic !!

God I hate driving in Leeds...

Stupid one way systems, loads of traffic lights, mental drivers, rubbish multicraps directions...so much for a dummy run in rush hour to my new place of work.  And I got up at stupid o clock to drive to it as well.   Angry
