.
Here at Dungarnetting, two pert little organic lamb chops from the market, gently caressed and massaged with fresh rosemary from the garden, laid firmly and yet gently on a bed of sliced carrots and red pepper, and allowed to pout and simmer for thirty five minutes, turned occasionally, whimpering with dazed contentment, as the juices trickled and intermingled. And a potato.
Jolly nice it was too.
At this point, Member Garnett is led gently but firmly from the kitchen to lay down in a darkened room with a cold compress on his forehead and a nice cup of weak tea within easy reach....

Member Sudden on the other hand is getting all flustered again, reminding him of a similar experience not a few hours ago while reading the Joyce thread...

I should report back that the fish pie on Saturday went down very well, even with my nephew who announced, as it was being served, that he didn't actually like fish pie! It was also remarkably easy to make (using an old Delia recipe).
Sadly, the chocolate brownies also went down well, with colleagues on Friday and family at the weekend, and I only have three left.

IGI, is that the classic one in Delia's first cookbook, with the prawns and capers and stuff? <foodieexcitementslowlyreturning>

Yes, it is. I left the capers out, thinking the kids might not be too impressed, but I did find some gorgeously juicy prawns to go in to join the haddock, salmon, hard-boiled eggs, parsley etc. Really good taste, accompanied by homemade bread.

Tonight I'm cooking toad in the hole, just like I promised myself on Sunday. Had a brief panic because I couldn't find a recipe (well panic is the wrong word. I mooched disconsolately amidst my cookery books until I gave up) but thankfully Nigel, courtesy of the BBC came to my rescue. I'm doing a few potatoes (though only two or three I should think), some steamed carrots and griddled courgettes to accompany it. And some of Sunday's gravy too. I feel that a bit of spoiling certainly wouldn't go amiss today, and as much as I'd like someone to cook this for me so I could stay in bed, it's just not going to happen any time soon! Ah diddums.

overly sweet Ah, but see, that's why I said 'Grade A'. You get the REALLY good stuff (from quality New England or Canadian outlets) and it's not really sweet at all in a refined-sugary way. It has a nuttiness to it which does not at all catch the throat. Mind you, lemon's fine too. I'll be knocking on the door at about 8am. Ok?

NOM! My Mother nearly married a Canadian when I was 18, I always regret what I missed in the syrup department.
