Tonight, a pork chop with juniper berry butter (thanks Nigel) with mash and curly kale.
My Jerusalem artichoke plants are MONSTROUS now. They are as tall as the garage and they keep on growing.

Chips from the chippy.  Shocked  After an afternoon tramping through the woods at Styal.

We took a picnic with us. This was spoilt somewhat by Little R finding a well-cooked earwig in her slice of Sainsbury's quiche... Angry  The customer services lady was obviously impressed as we were instantly given profuse apologies plus a refund plus a £20 voucher when we called in one our way home this evening.

She was probably quite relieved we hadn't rung up the Evening News for a front page headline - EARWIG HORROR QUICHE complete with picture of traumatised 11 year old showing the cooked corpse to the whole of Manchester.

Hm earwig quiche, not something I'll be trying I'm afraid MJ. Don't think they do it at my local Sainsbury's.  Wink

Perhaps you should have held out for more money!

I used to grow nasturtiums for the use of both the leaves and flowers in salads. But you have to inspect the flowers carefully since there's often an earwig lodged in the pointed bit at the end.

Nice bit of rump steak griddled so that it has a nice crust but is still oozing inside, served with a watercress and radish salad (unless the chill really gets to me, in which case it'll have to be curly kale instead. Of the salad, not the steak).
I'm salivating just writing this.

Nothing burning here last night. I ate at my supervisor's house ex-supervisor's house. He pan fried some delicious sea bass fillets and served it with some slow cooked peppers. It reminded me of eating in restaurants in Greece.
Tonight I'm doing tagliatelle carbonara and tomorrow I'm having people round for tea so I will bake scones, a cake and possible attempt some pikelets.

Hang on, h-h, I thought you didn't eat meat (or fish)? Carbonara certainly features ham/bacon/pancetta pretty prominently.

No it was my ex that didn't eat meat. I was cutting down on my meat and seriously considering turning veggie, but I've lost so much weight over the last six months I've decided to see what happens if I eat more meat.

hh, I have certainly reduced my meat consumption since the local butcher closed down Cry Angry and my weight has shot down. Well, a bit Undecided   Anyway, the lack of a butcher is rather a shame because, given the rainy, gloomy weather Darn Sarf, it`s the perfect day for Irish Stew. Or any great stonking stew!
