Have a good one, Ron. After six bottles of whisky, two cakes and a haggis you might be needing some of these.

Well, thank you one and all!

It's been a busy day for the Dough, so this is the first chance I've had to log on. Have just returned from the RSNO concert in Dundee - R Strauss Don Juan, Tchaik Violin Concerto, Debussy Prélude à l'après-midi and La Mer. The extraordinarily accomplished soloist was Hilary Hahn. How a tiny slip of a thing like that has the strength to produce that huge lustrous tone I just don't know, especially when she can turn it on a sixpence to the silkiest of harmonics: I could describe the whole concert and lard it with superlatives (save for some occasionally sour horns), but fortunately it's been recorded for R3 , tx date 11th February, presumably Po3, possibly AP, so you should have a chance to judge for yourselves. This was the trial for the short European tour

http://www.rsno.org.uk/cms/content/view/311/229/

so maybe one or two of you might even catch them personally. A couple of encores too, solo Bach Sarabande from HH, and a finale fizzing L'Arlésienne Farandole from the band under Stéphane Denève, who looks more like a Hoffnung cartoon each time I see him. Bless!

Ron! I haven't wished you happy birthday yet, because I've been trying to think of an appropriate image all day.

So far I've discovered that you look like either this:

or this:

But I must admit neither of them fits the image of the lovely person I swap CDs with from time to time (and whose handwriting to my eternal shame is a hundredfold neater than mine ...).

So I'd better just say:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Why thank you, tinners. (I think Richard B's handwriting is a hundredfold neater than mine, btw.)

Once again, thank you all for your kind regards!

I don't believe I am late with my Happy Birthday wishes for Ron.  Cry
I am still very slow. However, that is another opportunity to have a birthday cake again.
Wishing you health, happiness and success in achieving your goals.

The perils of wearing a kilt in the wind, Mort. Guaranteed to bring a little colour to the cheeks. (All four of them.)

t-p,

Considering how late Russians are with Christmas and the New Year, you're early! Thank you. Wink

Although the date has not been entered on our calendar, Stanley Stewart has let slip the information that he had a birthday yesterday, so I'd just like to make the fact available to all, and be the first to wish him sincerest belated birthday wishes.

All the best, Stanley!

Ron

martle, you just beat me to it!
