How lovely to see John Betjeman. What an innocent age he seems to conjure up. Thank you.
Yes a big thank you to Pim, who probably remember me saying that when I was much younger I passed a collection bag to John Betjeman in the Pusey House Chapel at Oxford. But innocent, hum. I read the first volume of Bevis Hillier's biography of Betjeman when I went on my marathon overland trip to Cyprus last November. Innocent is not the exact word. I can well sympathise with his tutor, C S Lewis of Narnia fame and current darling of American evangelicals who don't understand Christian history, who found JB deeply irritating. (I have not had time to look at Pim's clip at length. Thank you so much, Pim, you are a star. I will comment when I have seen it.)

Yes, I remember the collection bag, Don Basilio! Hillier's book is also on my shelf. Now I'm going to post a Betjeman's poem in the poetry section.
