At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue whose birthday it is today The next game is Sound Charades. This is based on the erstwhile television favourite Give Us A Clue, where teams of players used to delight their audience by miming the titles of songs, films or plays against a strict time limit. The most highly skilled of all was Lionel Blair, but how the tears of frustration welled up in his eyes during their Italian tour, at not being allowed the use of his mouth to finish off Two Gentlemen Of Verona.

And a Happy Birthday from me as well, Pim. We will raise our glasses to you tonight in old London town. Stanley may be able to give the background to this celebration. If not, enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iIvSe2UxGM&feature=related(I can't get a You Tube link. I am cutting a pasting the url from You Tube, and only the boring url shows here. Any rate, pim, keep 'em coming and all the best.) I quite like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9LQbu6ETAo&feature=related
