Sorry I'm a little behind.

Now, now. I thought we'd discussed this. Size doesn't matter. I'm sure it's little but perfectly formed.

Happy birthday Pim!

I see from the calendar that you and I cross the same arbitrary threshold this year. I hardly noticed it. Hope you have a great day! Are you doing anything nice?

In addition to the fine form of the football team, Holland has more reason to celebrate today. Happy birthday Pim !

And belatedly to Andy and Ruby also.

Many thanks to you all for the warm greetings, the beautiful and funny pictures (special thanks to harmonyharmony (see my avatar!)) and the lovely clips!

Yes, Stanley: "The best is yet to come"! This line brings me in a poetic mood. I had to think of Lord Byron's poem Growing Old this morning:

But now at thirty years my hair is grey.
I wonder what it will be at forty?
I thought of a peruke the other day...

I have a few grey hairs here and there but I'm not in need of a peruke. Wink

I never cared much for the romantic poets: there's too much self pity there. I do like some of the Victorian poets:

Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be.

(Robert Browning, Rabbi Ben Ezra).

Sounds a lot more optimistic!

I hope the members who are going to the meet-up will have a wonderful evening.

Here's a little upload. It's a short movement for saxophone quartet written by the Dutch composer Matty Niël (1918-1989). He was the only Dutch pupil of Anton Webern. He wrote serial music, but also lighter pieces, like this movement:

A good evening to you, too, Pim.

It's been a glorious day, here in York, and I bet that our revellers are enjoying a pleasant breeze by the Thames.     The landscape backdrop is quite stunning.   My only reservation is that one of the local underground stations at Borough, instantly reminds me of a stint of Jury Service, in 1975, at nearby Southwark Crown Court.   However, the whole south bank territory has been transformed since then and it is a most enjoyable walk between the Tate Modern and the Festival Hall.   One of these days, we really must entice you to the delights of our arts capital - I was tempted to make the trip there this morning but the lure of the garden and Pt 1 of "Tristan" this afternoon became mettle more attractive.

This evening, I've been working on the slimline casing for an off-air DVD of "The Minotaur" and there was room left for a transfer of the 1998 Great Composers series on Wagner.    Wink

For the sake of accuracy, I would point out that the George at Southwark is off Borough High Street, and there is Tooley Street and a number of shops between it and the Thames.

You were lucky with your jury service, Stanley.  I will never be able to think of Wood Green Shopping City with any other associations.
