I haven't used it yet, but I fear it will be another of those buggy systems for a while yet. Windows ME all over again?

Its sole possible attraction for me is that it is reliably reported to be comnpatible with the Psion Wavefinder, which XP, especially SP2, is not.

Anybody still up? Or just got up? I've been working through the night so that I can be with the child during the day. I'm about to go to bed for a few hours before he wakes up. It's half term now for a week, so the only chance I'll have to work is at night-time. It would be great this board being open 24/7 - if there was anyone else on it....

Not MS Vista, but I wonder if anybody else has had a "Wow!" moment a-la Gates with Internet Explorer 7.0? We installed IE7 before Christmas. We were unable to completely uninstall it when things went wrong. A couple of weeks ago, we resorted to the final solution and were obliged to reformat the hard disk (more than four years worth of data lost, way too much for backup to CDs) and reinstalled the original operating system and related software. Microsoft is no longer welcome in this chipset

I never use MS-IE in any version - too full of bugs and security issues, and too prone to virus attacks.
I use both Firefox and Opera - both have their strong points, and both are now free - well worth downloading and setting up, you won't ever want to use Internet Slowborer again :-)

One of my friends who is somewhat of a computer geek (he even says that about himself so it's not insulting) said "don't use it, it's not very good"

I use Firefox nearly all the time but unfortunately there are one or two sites, my bank included, which won't work properly with FF so I am forced to resort to IE occasionally

Well, as a new Vista user, I will share my feelings on it here when I have got more used to it.

Now that Microsoft have stopped issuing IE for Macs (albeit in a version far inferior to anything available to PC users - as with all their software. Ooh I could puke.), there are some sites for which I have to use my obsolete software, which doesn't have any of the recent Javascript updates etc. I've been trying to avoid things like Virtual PC. I DON'T WANT A PC! I BOUGHT A MAC!

hh,
I use Firefox for the internet on my Mac. You can find it on most of the CDs that come with Mac magazines, or else download it. I bought a Windows PC a few weeks ago which came with a free upgrade to Vista which I fully intended to install but I'm not so sure, especially after just getting the wireless connection on it to work.
