Just been speaking to Ollie on the phone, thought we should post this on the board: a group of people who frequent this messageboard are all meeting up in London at a pub near the Barbican tonight, the King's Head, from 7pm onwards: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=532529&y=181933&z=0&ar=Y

If you're free, come and join us! (Ollie, myself, Richard, t-i-n, George and others will be there). For purposes of identification, Ollie will be the one with the chalmeau Wink

(and we should make such meetings a more regular occurrence)

Oh bother! Looks like I can't get a flight at short notice, but I will be with you in spirit. May I ask you to raise a glass to idiocy, on my behalf.

No, I'm not a complete idiot. I'm only a halfwit. In fact I'm actually a catfish.

[Edited] i suggest you write RADIO 3 GANG in large letters on a piece of A4 and display it prominently near your table.

Then again, Byron, maybe it would be more appropriate for us to find each other as a result of surreptitious and hesitant signals.

I'll be the one with the red dirndl and cowbells anyway (see illustration at left).

I think there'd be something quite poetic about all of us sitting in different corners of the same pub furtively but fruitlessly looking around for each other.

Can't you simply summon everyone to the table using your alphorn?

It did occur to me that, after firmly forbidding my daughter meeting someone she had met on the internet other than at our house or with me in tow (the latter even more unpopular than the former), I am now proposing to do exactly the same. Perhaps I should bring a five-stringed chaperone to match Ollie's chalumeau.

(We did meet him in the end incidentally and he turned out to be very nice.)

And perhaps tapping away on your PDAs all posting onto a music messageboard somewhere  Grin

Meeting someone from the internet in a public place is no more dangerous than being in a public place for whatever other reason. But always insist on speaking on the phone first if it's to be a one-to-one meeting!

Actually, I do wonder if we might be met by some sort of angry demonstration organised by people from TOP?
