Ok, what do you think of the brighter home page?  Shocked

Nice photos? A mess?  Roll Eyes

Figured how to this today, so just an experiment.

I've set it so you click the image to get to the subject board, but doing that I notice the images appear on the recent posts and other places and that might not be good at all.

Let me know what you think  Wink

Take them off please John.

Looking at recent posts, which is what I usually do, the images occur again and again, it's going to get a bit boring after a while.  Undecided

Yeah they mess up the recent posts page. I've tried other ways but then the home page doesn't look so good. I'll have another go tomorrow.

Agreed, John. Nice idea, but it doesn't really work.

Hmmm, they make the Board look a bit `busy`.  If you see what I mean? Worth a try though. However I love  your new avatar, John. Great fun!

Martle, are you having an identity crisis? You appear to have become a frog. Or was it just a late night....? Grin Grin

Not my cup of tea at the moment, either. Wink

Nice idea, but they're just too much - all the pages get too long (more scrolling to see everything) and it's actually harder to read the list of topics in each forum now.

Hi Mort. Yes, I tend ro morph a lot between species and I won't pretend it makes life easy. I'm always green though, so that's something to cling to.  Grin

 Cheesy

Oh and I agree with others, and with John W's own conclusion, nice idea but it doesn't really work. It makes it more rather than less difficult to navigate around.

Hello John,

the photos are nice, but I think they take up too much room and I especially agree with Andy D about the Recent Posts. This site is already pretty extravagant with screen space (compared with TOP for example, though one gets used to it) and adding to the clutter only makes it more cumbersome and confusing.

Thanks for keeping in mind the idea of improving the boards, though. Thats a very welcome change from you-know-where.

Ok, figured out how to only see the images on the homepage  Smiley

The images still work as a link to each board.

So is the homepage OK?

Thanks roslyn and Lord Byron for the positive remarks.

Hope I'm taking care of the negative points, though I expect some just want the homepage as it was Wink

Great stuff John!
(Although there's something about the guy in the photo for the Suggestions board that makes we want to slap him round the chops.)  Wink
