what I dislike is cleaning the windows. Just how do you get them smear free?
Vinegar and water solution applied with scrunched up old newspaper. If doing both sides of the pane, do one side of the glass in a horizontal motion and the other in a vertical motion, so if you've missed a bit it's easy to see which side it's on.

My house has very difficult access to the outside windows. It's a nightmare trying to get someone to do them! (You have to lean out and risk life and limb with a 30 ft drop)...

I had a slimline dishwasher for many years, it now resides, broken, in the garage. In the meantime I am like Miss Faversham, the remains of my wedding feast strewn on the dining room table, the rats attempting to gnaw the cake, the cobwebs festooning the candlesticks... No, I don't mind washing up, I eat a fairly simple diet which doesn't generate much, what I dislike is cleaning the windows. Just how do you get them smear free?
Ho, nice to see you around again A

I wonder if it's significant that the male to female ratio on the new board is 17:1, and on this one it's 6.7:1?
T-p (post #1865) - that's a very nice cat. I hope nobody closes the door on it.

So which of the gents here is the 0.7? I'm not sure that everyone bothers to click the gender-indicator on their profiles - this may skew the statistics.

You've just brought to my attention the fact that I have my gender (what's that all about anyway? I'm a person, not a noun) ticked over here but not over there. Excuse me while I go on a feminist mission...

I'm back, and doubled the count of (those who own up to being) females - the ratio is now 8.5:1

I've done the same. Male-to-female over there is now 3.4 : 1
Maybe I should do it here, too, just for the sake of fairness.

Actually on the new board it's 4.3:1. So more female than here. But who's counting? I doubt its significant, given the low membership of either board. Plus you would have to omit the 100 or so members of this board who have never posted to give it any meaning. And more importantly (and I'm not saying this was your intention, Mary), let's not cultivate a 'them' and 'us' feeling between the two fora. John is keen that they both work, and despite my lack of confidence that they can work easily together, I believe we should give them both a chance. Highlighting differences between the boards could easily lead to trying to make judgements over which is better. Please let's not go there. Tommo

I certainly didn't intend to cause any "them and us" feeling. I don't feel that at all, and I post everywhere. It was just an observation, and a pretty useless one too, since the difference was clearly quite unrepresentative and has now altered a great deal, because more people (including me) have ticked the boxes.
