Best of luck on interview inky, even if you don't particularly want the job it's all good experience.
When I did my Women into Technology Course (funded by the EU - bless 'em) we had a lot of modules about CVs and how to structure them according to what you wanted to emphasise.
Certainly where I work age doesn't mean being chucked into the bin, our latest recruit was the oldest of those who applied, but we ask for a handwritten letter to accompany the CV, those that look like a drunken spider meandering across the page or any with speling mistooks certainly don't get to first base!

In any case, all jobs I've applied for recently require you to account for everything you've done since you were 16, with dates. They can easily work out your age from that. Really? Gosh: I'm astonished at that! But I find it common that application forms require you to attach a recent photograph. Really? Didn't know you worked in the modelling business Tony I do admire people who change careers [...]

I find it astounding that most people actually put a birth date on their CVs.
I'm surprised you're astounded, strin. I always find it a bit weird too, the idea of leaving my date of birth off my CV (I always put it on whenever I applied for jobs in the past; I'll need to decide whether to do that when I start sending CVs around again later this week or next, I suppose). But strina's quite right, you shouldn't have to do it according to current employment law practices. I believe that in most larger organisations with a separate HR department their standard practice on receiving CVs is to Tippex out any dates of birth before passing them on to the relevant department/manager.

The only reason I took it on was the fact of being unemplloyed at the time. You tend to take anything(almost!). Previous to that I'vebeen in nursing(Mental Health). My health got affected b y that. And so it seems to be again. Perhaps you people be able to help me out, perhaps. Either pm me or email or on here. I waffle!!

Following the preliminary interview today, which I was rather over-dressed for, I have a full day marketing/sales interview tomorrow. What fun! (I am, actually, looking forward to a full day of *anything*: I haven't had one in over five-and-a-half years ). For some reason, AIB are not interested in offering me a customer services job: not even an interview The gobdaws! They don't know what great a package they're passing up, to be sure.

I don't know quite where to post this, but did anyone see the programme Mozartballs on BBC4 tonight? It was about people who were obsessed with Mozart, including one who was convinced she had been him in a former life. They mostly seemed to be Canadian or Austrian. I now feel very sane indeed. I absolutely never talk about when I wrote Peter Grimes, and I have never counted how many steps it takes to get to Aldeburgh's churchyard from the Red House.
