Bumped into my old piano teacher today. Hadn't seen him in a while. Had a brief and pleasant chat, in the course of which he confirmed my suspicion that I feature occasionally in his lessons in failure/dropout-related anecdotes Left me feeling slightly nostalgic for pianism. I'll practice for a bit more over the next few days; that'll probably cure me. Actually, I'm near a printer right now; should probably print out that sonata what I've been promising myself I would for the past couple of weeks.

Medtner's second sonata from the op11 set (sonata elegia or something along those lines). Also: I started learning Russian today. A group of friends decided they wanted to, so I'm tagging along; though before today I had exactly no interest in learning Russian in particular; it's still good fun to learn a new language (espeically as a social activity).

bbm Why not bookmark the web address in your browser? (Is it ALT+D? Such a long time since I used that function on a PC)

Or right click, then scroll to 'bookmark this page' hh . A I've decided I like Google Bookmarks, since I can never be entirely sure whose computer I will be using, or where it might be and even if I do keep a copy of my bookmarks in online storage, it's tedious to update it.

I feel like I should be ashamed of myself. I've just eaten a whole pizza and a doughnut for lunch. And breakfast was a doughnut too. This is not a good trend.

A while ago I got in from playing in a concert. Highly enjoyable, short programme of three pieces with our student new music ensemble, including Louis Andriessen's 'Workers' Union'. Anyone who knows this piece will recall that it is 20 minutes of completely unrelenting, hard-driven, aggressive unison machismo. My fingers, wrists and shoulders are now ripe for hospitalisation. I've done it at least twice before and never suffered any ill effects. I am now, palpably, out of shape.
