Were they all in the same place, George?

A Retirement Home for Distressed Ex-Arts Ministers perhaps?

No, they weren't. But one of them was at the Rothko exhibition at Tate Modern and two were at the Barbican. So, hmm, perhaps not quite so surprising after all Wink. But it nonetheless felt a bit spooky when the third one hove into view.

Arts ministers at your actual, like, ARTS events?? Whatever next!

Does the Rothko show live up to expectations, George? I'll mosey along next week I think.

Isn't that Jackson Pollock, hh?  Cool

But greatly enjoyed indeed, though I do still have a grump about the (to my mind) unsympathetic way that the Tate now hangs them. The paintings themselves are deeply rewarding and astonishing but have to fight against their setting rather than emerging naturally from it.

The revelation to me, because I have never seen them before, was the set of 'Black on Grey' paintings from the National Museum of Art in Washington. The sort of thing Clov might be seeing from the windows in 'Endgame'.

I think that there's been some kind of rift in the space time continuum. Waffle seems to be sprouting up all over the place, for example in the off-topics thread, in the good morning thread... What's going on? Who can repair this schism in the very fabric of the universe?

That's funny, I just said the same thing to my boyfriend on the phone about 20 minutes ago. I've spent a good proportion of the last 8 or 9 days trying to get hold of (a) a score, (b) a recording of a piece I'm supposed to write 700 words about by next Monday. An initial email in English to the (Catalan) composer yielded a reply in Spanish including his publisher's contact details, so I emailed them, got no reply, sent another message to the composer (this time in broken Spanish) including my address in case he could send me anything himself. He replied the following day (this time in broken English) saying that he'd posted me a CD the previous weekend ... which was actually impossible because I'd never even been in touch with him at that point, but I decided it was best just to wait and hope for the best.

On Monday a score arrived by Fedex, presumably from his publisher although with no covering note, and tonight when I got home there was another email from the composer which began "Quérido John: Bravo por tu español, mucho mejor que mi inglés", which I don't understand at all since I don't remember emailing him since the one where my Spanish was obviously so bad he decided to reply in English. <utterly confused emoticon>

I still haven't heard the piece (except for a brief extract from a Catalan TV documentary on YouTube), although judging from the score it's rather nice.

"Quérido John: Bravo por tu español, mucho mejor que mi inglés", which I don't understand at all

It means "   Dear John: Bravo for your Spanish, much better than my English"

Glad I could help.
