A work colleague suggested Head and Shoulders even though I dont have dandruff. It has worked superbly. The hair looks extra healthy and in control.
What works for you ? I find I dont like the all-in-one shampoo/conditioners which have a dulling effect in time.

Alison If you HAVE hair enough for H&S, that's probably good enough. If not, er, dab a bit of the old Imperial Leather over your pate after doing your armpits.

Since you ask: I currently alternate the following. (Lush 'New Hair' and 'Hybrid'.)

I use the supermarket Herbal Essences shampoo and separate conditioner for normal hair, even though mine is very oily. Anything harsher just makes it worse I find. This thread reminds me of the old days on the R3 boards. Do you remember our nail varnish discussions?

I don't like conditioners, full stop. I use frequent use shampoos, currently Garnier Fructis Fortifying Shampo for normal hair - don't know what all the mumbo-jumbo means, but it seems to work. I wash my hair every morning, which is a bit of a nuisance but it looks much better if I do. And it's not grey yet! (Well, maybe a tiny bit around the sides.)

Mill, yes indeed, normally a quiet Sunday night wasnt it ?
I do enjoy being nosey when visiting other peoples bathrooms.
So what your saying, Bev C, is that you dont really experiment much with different shampoos ?

Nope. Don't experiment at all. If it aint broke don't fix it. I wash my hair every morning anyway - so I don't suppose it would matter which one I used. Occasionally I use little 'un's Johnson's Baby Shampoo if I've run out of mine.

I understand that the current tendency to hair wash every day is a comparatively recent phenomenon. My mums twice weekly was thought by her mum to be excessive.

Hey Mills,
Congrats on all you've done!
Great pic, too. Though if I could just make one little comment, the scarf's trendy enough but maybe a brighter tartan for your skirt would be a good idea...

The Emperor suspected they were right. But he dared not stop and so on he walked, more proudly than ever. And his courtiers behind him held high the train... that wasn't there at all.

I think it depends what sort of hair you have. With dry hair you could go much longer. Oily hair looks awful after a couple of days. They say washing it frequently makes the problem even worse - but I just couldn't stand leaving it longer. Ugh! Let's face it Ali, in our great-grandmothers' day, they probably only bathed once a week and washed their hair even less often. Lots of old wives tales abounded, which I won't go into on here ( ) but to be too clean was often considered to be "unhealthy".

Ollie, are those things pills you take to keep your hair clean? I've never managed to get into one of those Lush shops, I find that cloying saturation of a hundred different perfumed soaps quite offputting. Those names are a bit worrying too, don't you think? New Hair? No thanks. And Hybrid? The mind boggles. Mind you, I feel bound to say that Mr Sudden is in my experience impeccably turned-out at all times.

I understand that the current tendency to hair wash every day is a comparatively recent phenomenon. My mums twice weekly was thought by her mum to be excessive.
But that was in the days when all the chairs in the living room had antimacassars on them. When men's hair was always greased with Brylcreem or similar and women would go out in curlers and headscarves, Hilda Ogden style.
