So, any thoughts from anyone on this week's composer?  Underplayed?  Underrated?

Shame they couldn't find a clarinet version of the Clarinet Trio, and had to play a violin version instead Sad

I didn't know any of the music in yesterday's programme at all, and was very pleasantly surprised by it - I only knew his operas.

Same here, i am rather enjoying most of it, yesterday was rather good too.

Interesting to hear all this stuff about Alma Schindler.

Thanks Byron,

I realise now that Alma must have been a model for many of Klimt's works - something in that photo.  And there's something sad about how she was forced to split form Zemlinsky.

Adds and interesting angle to appreciation of the three artists involved.

It always was....

just a later slot a week afterwards!

I actually prefer the former format, but am thankful that there is still a repeat.

I never heard about Zemlinsky. This is the first time I hear his music and I find it very attractive and good. I wish I could play it. Thanks to Radio 3 I found out about him.

Me, too, with the string quartet; very good indeed. Liked the first symphony (first movement) on Monday, too. Fascinating background information about Z. and Alma. Brilliant presentation as per usual on CotW.

Brilliant presentation as per usual on CotW.

I've caught bits and bobs of this too - very attractive and interesting music. And yes, why is it that CotW is so much better in terms of intelligent, non-patronising content than anything else on R3? Is it just Donald?  Angry

I just can't imagine him saying "...and do tell us what YOU think..."

The last bastion of what Radio 3 should be about, he muttered in a reactionary fashion. Remember when it was called "This Week's Composer"?
