I like it Ollie!

Michael, can I second the vote of thanks coming your way?  Or is that 29th?  Anyway, I occasionally still post on the other place, but it is a bit like being in a Kindergarten.  I keep trying to tell myself that 2 places to chat about classical music is better than one, even if one of the two is a bit remedial.......

Daniel - Ron has said that physical dodginess is OK on this board.  Mental Dodginess isn't eactly frowned upon either.  Very big welcome.

Cheers all

Tommo

Not quite sure how that 'subtle' change passed me by!

Thankyou for the warm welcomes extended to me and my right hand! I was going to attempt to launch a smiley to say thankyou but all I got was this  Smiley So please try to imagine a golden, beaming smile and you'll get its intention.

Ron, what a brilliant metaphor. Tommo I do remember you coming up with spectacularly funny thread titles in the 'old country'. And thankyou to the deliciously green martle and colourful Morticia also.

Apologies by the way for introducing myself in the wrong place and possibly in the wrong way (it wouldn't be the first time)..

Daniel

ps I see it did come up with a happy face ... it didn't look like that when I was typing it  Embarrassed

Hello, Ron        Hello Ollie

I'm slightly bemused and disorientated on jumping ship but glad to see at least a couple of familiar names and correspondents.   You may remember me as S S (NOT Simon says, please note)    Guess I'll have to hang my hat and lurk for a few days.      Thanks, too, Ron for your patience in guiding me here.

Stanley! Well this is very fine indeed. I think you'll see very quickly that there are plenty of familiar souls about.

Welcome.

Stanley, you're very welcome: as one of the sanest and most enthusiastic of the recent comers to the other board, your place here was all but obligatory!

Thanks, Ron             I'm still in browsing mode; a bit like the first day of rehearsals with a new company but it is good to see a few familiar names.

Had another shufti at your north-east coastline photos earlier today, listening to Tintagel in the background.  It all merges so well.

Ever,     Stanley

I'll '38th' that - even before the changes, I couldn't manage to post without any of my messages being pre-moderated (under a different name) - even though I'd never been offensive.  Here, I can post immediately.  I'll try to contribute more often here than I did 'in the other place'.

#35    Thanks, Ollie.         Loved the smiley, a la Fred Astaire.
"I'll go my way by myself....." with a smooth, rhythmical sway"!

   # 34   Thanks to you, too, martle.   I recognise your name from t'other place.

#30      Hello, Tommo.   We exchanged our first greetings, last weekend, on "a world elsewhere".   Best to refer to my signing-off name, rather than my moniker above.

Right you are Stanley,

Very good to have you on board.  I'm sure you'll find out pretty soon this is a much nicer place than the old country.

Time to add John W to the heading, too, perhaps. Bearing in mind how sniffily one or two posters in TOP referred to this site in the early days, it's very heartening to see that the influx of names from the past has continued pretty constantly, and that although the warrior maiden Anna and tireless gladiator Draco spend most of their time there, most posters are either dual-domiciled or have made this their primary residence. There's certainly more activity here than in the chilling, barren, killing fields over there today, which is only to be expected when the stern new rules of moderation are applied with all the robotic sympathy of Daleks.

Michael (and John), continued thanks,

Ron

Many thanks Ron. Setting this place up, some four weeks ago now, was Michael's idea; I got dragged along screaming! Cheesy

But no, with all the uncertainty at the time no one knew the right thing to do. Michael came up with one option, foR3 now also has one, and the BBC website has it's own agenda. I'm certainly pleased with THIS option and it's been rewarding to see so many folk here posting and enjoying themselves in a relaxed atmosphere - why even yesterday Bryn and I didn't even swing a handbag over thread manipulation, much to some others' disappointment - maybe it's TOOOO relaxed here  Wink

As I mentioned earlier I've relocated some older threads into the new topic boards (Michael or Bryn will likely tell me to move them all back again   Undecided) hopefully the new structure will generate more music-related topics and more R3-related postings.

Thank you everyone
