Asssuming this should go here...

Is there any way of receiving TV on a computer? If so, is radio also covered? And is a licence fee payable?

Cheers

Depends what you're using: if you're PC based, do you want a card that you can install, or an external plug-in?

If the latter, you'll probably be looking at somethying like this

If you're a Mac user, there's a wonderful range by Elgato.  http://www.elgato.com/

Just make sure you can get a good digital signal, eruanto, as the aerial that comes with it is rather small. I've got something like that on my computer and I'm in a reasonably good area. Even so, I can't get every digital channel.

I assume radio signal is varying in quality as well (if you use it for that?) ? I am on top of a hill, so that should play some role.

I've never used it for radio as I've already got a digital radio in the same room, but I could if I wanted to. If it's just radio you want, I'd advise using a radio. But the gadgets you've referred to do give a cheap and easy way of getting digital TV. And you can record the programmes on to the computer, although there are many factors involved and the picture may be small.

As Tony says, they are very signal dependent: for some reason I just can't get a good freeview signal here, though FM is marvellous: I have a stick not unlike that which I use with my laptop when I'm away, generally with good results, but here it's just a waste of time, even with an external ærial. If there's any way of checking first...

Well, for better or worse, I invested in one of "this" today. Sadly it won't arrive early enough for the Mahler 8 early Thursday morning, but hoiho.

Of course it's always possible that someone else might just be able to provide a copy for you...
