Baaaaaaaaaaa!

It would be worth your while downloading Firefox and installing it as your default browser - it is much more secure than IE, and trojans, viruses and worms find it much harder to penetrate. The add-on downloadable bits (adblock and adblock plus) can be installed by a 3-year-old.

Baz is partly right. I have a 17-month old, and he installed Adblock for me.

Just kidding.

Follow bluesheep's link. If you're using Firefox, you will be given an option to add Adblock.

After adding, you will have to restart Firefox. In the lower left of the window you will see Adblock underlined with a dashed line. Click on it.

You will see the option of blocking sundry websites. At that point, type the following lines into blank at the bottom of the new window:

"www.google-analytics.com/*"

and then (after clicking OK and then clicking on the Adblock dashie again)

"www.tekhoi.com/*"

I emphasize: this means you will not see ads anymore. If you want the ads, don't do this! And if you want to play "a new and very silly game," you cannot participate if Adblock is active.

I'm confused. I'm using Internet Explorer and I do see the "sponsered links" but I have never seen anything called google-analytics or tekhoi.com and I have never noticed a significant page load delay. What am I doing right/wrong?

Right - I've closed down Firefox and am now using IE. Some observations: a) it is very very much slower to load than Firefox; b) the speed is reduced because (if you look to the bottom left of the screen during loading) you can see the names of all the sites linking in; c) most of these links are being fired at you from google-analytics and tekhoi; d) in addition to the Sponsered links at the top, each page you load also contains banner advertisements at the foot of the page.

That's why (after posting this) I'm going back to Firefox.

Hah. Oh YESSS! I have now blocked tekhoi and everything has speeded up significantly. Back to normal. Oh joy.

Neither have I, IRF. I also have Firefox installed, although I've only used it once or twice, so tried out this site on it...slow to load pages and, yes, tekhoi.com appeared at the foot of the page, despite it never having appeared in IE. Bizarre!
