Does anyone know what "tekhoi.com" is? It has become extremely irritating recently for ANY interaction I have with this MB (i.e. changing threads, refreshing the screen, Previewing posts, basically anything at all) to be interrupted for 10-15 seconds with a frozen screen, at the bottom of which appears the message "Transferring data from www.tekhoi.com...". I have become used now to a similar message that has always been there saying "Transferring data from google-analytics.com...", but this further "tekhoi" intrusion is merely another apparently new irritation. Adblock tells me that it's an advertising banner (possibly running at the bottom of the screen?).
I can't see it because it's automatically blocked on my browser and therefore doesn't seem to cause me any delays.

Baz, I use NoScript and have google-analytics marked as untrusted - that stops it on any site, not just here. I've just done the same with tekhoi.com, tho I hadn't noticed it I must admit. |

Can someone tell me in beginners' language how to do this?
I've never used any kind of adblock software as I don't find them too distracting, but at speed is never to be sneered speed is never to be sneered at.

Do you still get images and avatars loading, now you've blocked the ads, or has the lot gone? Everything that should be there - avatars, images within postings, everything - is there. The only difference is that the whole thing now loads up instantaneously (instead of waiting for banners to download - banners which never loaded for me anyway since I had already blocked them as actual images). Actually denying tekhoi or goole-analytics connectivity with my machine means that the data I wanted alone now shows itself at once. By "instantaneously" I mean this: when the MB link (or any within it) is clicked, the screen immediately fills with the complete image required (rather than building itself slowly from the top downwards). It is not held up at all by "transferring data from..." notices. I have never had this speed before. Baz |
