Sean R. just announced "time to hand the battement to...."

This is the kind of thing that causes me to splutter tea into the keyboard. Baton? perhaps, beat? I think not.

I am not happy because there is no program and I don't know what I am listening to. I know it is by Czech composer who could not practise his christian faith and felt abandoned during Soviet invasion in 1968. I have to say music sounds very dispondent, but what is the name of composer.
I don't know the word batterment (it is not betterment) and how do you hand the batterment to something is a mystery to me.

I didn't hear it but isn't battement sometimes an interval, maybe like a gap in his programme?  Smiley

Mystery had been solved. It was probably Eben: Vox clamantis on performance and no on in tune. Please accept my appologies. I am listening to so much, that I am afraid it all will be smashed in my brains. I am not cut out to be intellectual know it all kind of person.

KURTAG
Moments musicaux (Op.44) - VI: Les Adieux ("in Jancek's manner") was played on Friday. I have to say that was not very pleasant piece, did not give me much on first listening. The bassoon and voice piece was funny, I enjoyed it.
Schumann quartet no 3 was new to me. I found the sound of the Elias quartet a little harsh and not singing (I thing strings call it scrappy).

Ha ha,

Cellist Alban Gerhardt has just referred to Max Reger as a miserable little prick

How dare he said so about Max Reger, who I love very much.

I am listening to the show today May 24th. I am enjoying it very much. Right now there is an interview with a viola player. Since there is no list it is hard for me to get the name. I think it is very well done. They are advertizsng their recital with a pianist and they are lunching a CD.
They played Brahms famous Scherzo very well. Now there is a modern piece of unusual beauty.
I don't know the composer. I think the name of a composer is Tabakov, but it is too bad there is no list with names because it is hard for me to understand the name.

Thank you BobbyZ and John W.
I did not have a lunch today. It was so rushed. I came home very tired and there was one student to get through.
They were launching a good CD I think. What kind of review they will get?
