Is it trendy to compose a viola concerto? Why have so many been written in the last 25 years or so?

Apparently you can get Minority Rights funding for them.

Huh.  Look at what getting into the C-string does for one's vocabulary and/or typing:

5-string violins are meeting the challenge, rasing the bar.

The borg can eff off.

Eff?  Yes, there are some 5-string violas (mostly electro-violas, admittedly) which have F-C-g-d-a' Smiley

You're just secretly worried that if we all fit e'-strings we'll come and play your top notes Smiley  Anyhow, having an e'-string on a viola is so much easier than, errr, having to change position Wink

But the nicest violas have always had a few more strings Smiley

But gawd help you if the piece isn't in D-major Wink

Ah, I'd "love" to get my hands on one of those!  Let me know if you know of any nice ones to be had for very, very little money...   Roll Eyes

I just found your post, Peter Grimes.
I love this viola player. I am not a string player, but I think Olga Goija plays so naturally and free.
