Thanks Baz. Don't know how I missed that.

Great opening sentence, btw (Baudrillard being the man who became notorious for saying 'The Gulf War is not taking place')!

I was not trying to imply that at all, I would come along but going to the philosophy debate to meet up with friends and doing it with london[edited] so other folk will expect me to be there, I was just trying to say, shoreditch can be a bit dodgy, but if you want to end up drinking in a dodgy part of london late at night then go for it.

You know something Lord Byron? That's exactly what I had been thinking. It's funny how really strange minds (like ours!) sometimes intersect in a most unexpected way. Anyway, if you don't "make it" we'll drink to your good health.

I'd rather be in Shoreditch than in some phoney tourist trap like Covent Garden any day of the week.

Not sure whether to include the ROH in that.

as a fan of covent garden i have no place on a board about bbc radio 3
 Shocked

ROH is very popular with tourists, a real tourist trap

r3ok is for folk who like drinking and listening to music in shoreditch, not covent garden

ARGHHH, i am hanging around the wrong places AGAIN

Think we should invite Pierre Boulez to Shoreditch?

The thing is, Byron, I don't like opera houses in general, though that's a personal thing and I'm sure there are plenty here who do, and I don't like things that are manifestly fake, like "Covent Garden Market". Also I'm more interested in music than in where it happens to be going on, whether this is Shoreditch or anywhere else, and I'm more interested in the people I'm drinking with than in how hip the pub is.

There are now almost twice as many posts in this thread about post-concert drinking on the 16th than there are in the thread about the concert itself. Maybe we should scrap the concert and just get variously ratted.

I was more concerned about location, harmony was talking about when he got mugged recently on another thread, and thought some older folk would be coming along, and a few drinks turns to many and then you would be stuck in shoreditch.

BUT I think you should all ignore me and have a pub crawl in shoreditch because I talk a lot of rot

You must like ROH, for the acoustics, alone, I mean, what great sound, even on a cheap ticket.

Yes,and to the board- imagine a Barrett/Pace/Boulez caucus (eg singing a bit of Stockhausen inthe street after closing time)

Will be mid-move at the weekend, will make it down if i can.
