Isn't it more a case of "all the clouds that lour upon your house/bungalow" right now, Stanley?
Seriously, though, York would be less of a hassle than the Smoke, and always worth a visit. Is that brilliant second-hand CD shop in Micklegate still there, Stanley?

Ollie. "I want the sun, mother, I want the sun". Oswald in Ibsen's "Ghosts". Otherwise, almost 2 weeks of unbroken sunshine here at York - yeah, I know, I'm going to have to pay for such hubris. Ron, The grass at the back of the bungalow has been unsettling me with "When I'm calling you, ooo, ooo! Ach, you're all far too young to remember Nelson & Jeanette, but I do possess VCR's for the enquiring. Before "Rose Marie" became known in this country, Noel Coward auditioned a young singer and gave her the sheet music of the Indian Love Call. He was astonished when she sang, "When I'm calling you, double o, double o."

Hi, Pim. As Bette Davis said with withering disdain, "Nobody is 16." Ron. Yes, The Lamb CD Shop still thrives, at 89 Micklegate, under the management of the affable and so organised, Jay. www.classicalandjazz.netFurther down is Ken Spellman's Bookshop (second hand) which always requires a further 2 hours for browsing. In winter, a most welcoming open fireplace. Best of all, Micklegate is always tolerable, even at the height of the tourist season and the main shopping centre is only a few hundred yards away; the sheer joy of living in a compact city. The Furies demand my presence mit mower, in the garden - NOW!

Hi, Pim. As Bette Davis said with withering disdain, "Nobody is 16." Perhaps I was 15, Stanley. The CD was part of a 6 CD collection called Nederland Bevrijd ("The Netherlands Liberated") issued in 1995. The sound quality of this collection is very poor, but it was my introduction to the music of artists such as Mario Lanza, Deanne Durbin ( Amapola), Flannigan & Allen ( We're going to hang out the washing on the Siegfried Line) and George Formby.
