I'm afraid it's looking like gruel rather than nuts, A... the voice of democracy has spoken!

Looks like it's going to have to be gruel, folks.

Unfortunately I shall be unable to share it, having been let down by the babysitter for tomorrow evening.  Roll Eyes

Keep some gruel for me to have next time please.

Sorry I don't understand! Why can't you just bring the baby with you so we could all babysit together? Are you worried that there would not be enough milk to go round?

She'd be happy with the gruel of course, that's what she gets at home, but the term "babysitter" shouldn't be taken to imply that there is an actual baby involved, but indeed in this case someone more like this:

who might not find the experience as riveting as the rest of us.

Clearly a female of some style, Richard. She has co-ordinated her wellies with the fuschias! Wink

Looking at the face - whose charm is matched by personality and determination  Kiss  - I hereby retract my offer to join in the "babysitting"! You are infinitely more qualified to do it alone.

I should be there by 7.15, Mort.

And while I'm here, I declare the Nuts Voting closed. Can I do this? Yes, because I have acted unilaterally, blown a rasberry in the face of democracy and bought the victuals already. As far as nuts are concerned, I favour benign dictatorships.

If we are feeling credit-crunched, an economical substitute for nuts can be made by baking uncooked kasha (buckwheat groats) in the oven until crispy, and salting to taste.   The result tastes very nasty - o tempora, o mores!   Part of the economy lies in the very low price of buckwheat - the other in the very low takeup that can be expected for this unpalatable treat.  For a more economical version, omit the salt.
