My lord,

how about having a thread titled 'In today's R3 schedule' so we can have one thread to alert the group and discuss programmes rather than (likely) 100s of threads each with 3 messages which will do much harm to the forum structure ?

Your posting what's on like this sometimes is, I must say, something that I for one really appreciate. It is much quicker than clicking on this and that to arrive at the R3 schedule .  Thank you, I shall listen with interest. I am gradually working my way (rather haphazardly because I didn't realise at first that they are not in numerical order in the boxed set) the Shostakovich symphonies. I enjoyed the one this afternoon which I think was No. 6.

You don't need to click on 'this and that' Susan, as indicated in the helpful announcements, just bleb:

No details there are there, John? I still buy the RT in spite of its gradual deterioration.

Lord,

the content of the threads is fine (if discussion follows) but I suspect that if you create 300 3-message threads to this forum this year that won't go down too well with Michael, and they will just get junked. I guess if you don't mind them getting junked then fine.

Your messages and the short discussions are likely to be preserved if we have one "Coming up on R3 this week" type of thread.

They play this Schostakovich concerto too often. It is a good concerto, I understand.

Of course it's a free market, but you're really starting to clog the board up with fatuous short threads couched in (IMHO) embarrassing  pseudo-hip jargon. I'm sorry. but copying and pasting programme schedules and saying that piece x or y is cool or fabo really isn't discussing music at all, but looks rather more as if you have some overweening drive to get the record as creator of the most threads.

Might it not be neater to have just one ongoing 'Musings of Byron' string?

As we have no 'ignore user' option on this board, how about I ignore everything you post and you do likewise for me as we seem to clash.

You miss the point Lord Byron. Even with the 'ignore' facility that you seek, you would still be clogging up the forum system, and that would be a bit unfair on the folks who don't even read you messages.

Other people start threads I do not like, I have to put up with them.

This is the Classical Music On Radio 3 section, I see no reason not to discuss the recent concert on radio 3 in this section.  It does say

"Classical Music on Radio 3
Discuss classical music and the classical music played on BBC Radio 3 here. "

Perhaps we need a new section, 'in depth composer discussions' ?

mm, i know, will go request in the suggestions section a section for 'performance on 3'

Opinions are made to be changed -or how is truth to be got at? Lord Byron.

I did not like the start of it, but it got better.

Lots of nice info about the piece from petroc, always good to have radio 3 folk giving you background to pieces.

Lord Byron, why do you deliberately avoid the point I am making?

Yes, discuss what is on Radio 3, but surely not 365 separate threads which may or may not have discussion.

Like the Waffle thread we can have a continuous 'Coming Up On Radio 3' thread which will take in all your daily announcements. Any really rivetting programme or concert will likely get it's own thread if a prolonged discussion is expected. Your little announcements rarely get a discussion going, altough this is a good one  Cheesy
