30 Aug 2008

Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra, soloist Anna Leese (soprano)
Is that Annalise from Neighbours then?

Here's another rumour for your mill, David: Messiaen, La Transfiguration, BBC NOW/Thierry Fischer. 17 July, I think (I've got it written down somewhere but can't be bothered to look just at the moment).

Looks like there's no Anna Leese after all, it was a google false positive, they're doing a "Last Night of the Proms" in Auckland.

The programme for the recent LAPO Sibelius concerts at the Barbican suggested that Karita Mattila will be singing at next year's first night.  No news on what she will be singing though.

Smiley Yey!  That's one for the Diary then.  I very much enjoyed your Echo and Narcissus - will this bear any resemblance?

Congrats - your first prom?

Ta Tommo - my first 'Proms commission' but my third Prom - the piece will be for solo soprano and orchestra so may bear some resemblance in parts to what you heard in E&N (including the choice of soloist  Wink )

Just a thought Stuart, whats your opinion of the brass band as a medium for a composer. We have some very talented composers working with us these days. Be good to see more "claasical" composers write music for us. Whats your opinion?
