Actually, come to think of it, I do remember a friend of mine, she started dating someone she had known via work for years, and he went loopy and would not leave her alone when it was over, she called the police in the end and he got lost.

put 999 in that mobile phone now !

Hope nobody will stalk me  Shocked

I did that loads of times.  They didn't want to know.  They did at our insistence go to "have a word with him" once,  but it made no difference.  They said it was best ignored.  He was the ex-husband of a friend of mine.  Now an ex-friend because I had to completely dissociate myself from any connection at all.

It was the same with nuisance calls.  The helpline told me that "They're not usually anything to be really frightened of" and just to "gently put the phone down and let the caller carry on at his expense while you go off and do something else.   Then return and replace the receiver later."  That makes you feel a whole lot better!  Roll Eyes

Basically, if someone murders you they'll try to find out who did it.  Roll Eyes

The last nuisance call I received was quite a while ago before my number was changed.  He sounded really genuine at first.  He said "I'm ringing to enquire about the advert you've got in the paper selling ladies' clothes."  I of course said "I'm sorry but you have the wrong number".  He then went on to apologise (very well-spoken too) said he must have rung a digit wrongly - but while I was on, did I have any clothes for sale?  I laughed and said no, sorry - and then he started ..."are you wearing such and such...." as they do.  When I reported this to the helpline, the lady was laughing her head off as she wrote it down.  She said she'd thought she'd heard them all....but anyway, I wasn't to be frightened etc. etc. Roll Eyes

It is indeed. I was sufficiently spooked when I was a 16-yr old student, to find this creepy-looking geezer turning up all over town when I had to go down less-well-travelled streets. A friend of mine who took self-defence classes gave me some advice though, and so far, thankfully I have not had to use it.

No, I'm not a complete idiot. I'm only a halfwit. In fact I'm actually a catfish.
