I think I am going to be in minority, but I don't like Sinatra's version of Tchaikovsky Non but the lonely heart.
Cross over that did not do Tchaikovsky song much good. It sounded like a song from some Hollywood movie.

People will disagree with me, I am sure.

Ho Milly.  Because I had the volume very low so that I wouldn't disturb my wife.

Ho Trained Pianist.  I entirely agree with you.  I have an aversion to virtually all of Sinatra's output.

Cheers

People did not like Sinatra's version. I am glad.
I am glad I heard it so I know it exists. I am sure my not sophisticated friend will like something like that.

It was (I hope) Rob Cowan's send up of the whole 'completist' nonsense

I want to post here the link for Vishnevskay and Rostropovich performance of Tchaikovsky's songs:
The first one is: Don't believe my friend, that I don't I don't love you anymore.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/tchaikovskyexperience/pip/xijob/

there is going to be "none but the lonly heart" there too.

Il Grande Inquisitor, Did you like Vishnevskay and Rostropovich?
It was confusing though, because there were other performers too.
I think Vishnevskay has a tendency to sing out of tune.
I think the last one None but the lonely heart that knew how to desire the next meeting will understand me- was sung by Vishnevskay and the first song for sure was sung by her.

Now it has finished - I want a final rant; not just about the lacklustre, dead-as-a-doornail performance of 1812 that finished it off, [any sympathy for Charles Hazlewood after the battering he received Over The Way evaporated after hearing this amateur effort] but the fact that the Performance on 3 spot has - all week - been dominated by recordings that most of us could borrow from the library or take off our shelves at any time.

When the BBC can't (won't) even provide an orchestra to round things off with a live performance of Le sacre, we must ask - what are we paying for?

I don't think I'm being unreasonable here. It's been a cheap week at Broadcasting House...

cheap as chips, Roslyn.

It reduced R3 to the status of a podcast.  Any of us could have put this together.

 Angry

Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells rides again.

I visited the Radio 3 listen again page. Have we all experienced Tchaikovsky now?
I hope you were all paying attention, I shall be asking questions later.

Didn't Truman Capote say something about guzzling a whole box of liqueurs at one sitting?

But on the up-side, we have all, now, received our Tchaikovsky innoculations. None of us need ever fear drinking a glass of choleric water. Roll Eyes
