Reiner, when do you go offline? If it's a little way off we mods (gosh!) can confer... you probably won't be the only one in this position.

Well, we've conferred.

If anyone is in the position of being offline for the voting period (and I know at one other member apart from Reiner may well be), please send your vote to r3ok_poll and mark it clearly '3rd poll - POSTAL VOTE'.

Obviously those people can only vote for people who've actually nominated themselves up until the moment they vote... so anyone who's waiting to self-nominate shouldn't twiddle their thumbs.

Far be it from me to interfere, but I think it was said in the misty past of the runup to the first vote that if all the candidates vote for themselves at least that's a constant error. Actually I didn't vote for myself in either the first or second votes, but then I know things about myself that most others don't.

This from Michael. I'm sure he won't mind me sharing it with you all.

In the previous votes I had been allowing self voting.  I did this due to the fact that during Prime Ministerial elections, candidates can vote for themselves.  My theory was that if it is good enough for them...

I have been having a ponder about the third, or even thrid, round and have decided that I do not have a Mort Manifesto to lay before you. Largely because I agree with what IGI has had to say about how the Moderating process should be conducted. There is a clear code of conduct in place for anyone wishing to contribute to this MB, this includes Moderators too (I would hope). We saw the results of a confrontational Mod style on the Beeb board and the damage that caused. One of the great strengths of this MB is the ability of the Members to self-moderate, thus meaning that the strong arm of the Mod is rarely called upon. When it is I would hope that the response be a considered one and not knee jerk. With a team of Mods who bring different strengths to the role, this should be possible.

We have a rather unique place here and much of that is down to the Members. Long may it last !

Right, that`s it. I`m off now. Hmm, wonder if Sophie would let me try on her white coat and clip board  to see if it fits ....? Grin

I think that's probably as much of a manifesto as is needed, Mort. (Although I do think you should adopt Mr Grew's 14th point forthwith.) I'm sure that you, and the other nominees, would also be happy to be available to answer any specific questions Members might have, either here in public on this thread or by private communication, about how you would deal with any specific situations that might be envisaged?

Good luck to all and may the best man or woman be chosen, for the benefit of all!

I have a couple of specific questions about specific situations but I think I will perhaps raise them with candidates in private communication.

"Moderation in all things" might well not be one of my mottos.
